If you travel to Dumaguete, Island of Negros, then this is a great place to stay. You feel safe there. Staff is really good, good owners, good people. Perfect swimming area in front of the hotel and it's very clean and well maintained.

Not too much because Shenanigans treats it guests like a common criminal. They make you turn over your id until you check out. The check out is too early, 1100am. This is way too early for a swimming resort. When I booked it I know it said 300 php for 2 breakfasts. But the next morning they told us that breakfast was not included and charged us 300 php for a tiny breakfast that wasn't very tasty. The driveway had speed bumps that bottomed out a motorcycle 🏍 and car with the possibility of breaking them. You can bring drinks into the place. Too many rules that prevents you from having a good time. Again, the make you pay a retainer to get a ping pong ball. Couldnt find sticks or balls for billiard table.

My stay this year at Liberty's Community Lodge is my second. My first was back in 2015. I like this accommodation in terms of its location, the overall "island" vibe and the staff. That's why I didn't have any second thoughts about choosing this place for my second visit after 9 years.
Pretty much everything remained the same. Before I stayed in their dorm accommodation, but this time, I opted to get a private room for myself, the one facing the sea and with the small balcony. I am SO IN LOVE with the vibe, with the surroundings and the feel of those rooms. Especially the room is sunset-facing.
The location of Liberty's is also where you can freely dive/snorkel without having to pay the tourist fee of 300 pesos. You can go to the rock formation area and the cove right next to it, and you will experience an underwater PARADISE that is beyond words can explain. The sea turtles, the incredible reefs and marine life are just close from the beach, though it gets deeper fast, but you don't have to go really deep just to see them!
I also like the access/path going to the lighthouse, it is a nice walk up and down in the afternoon and see the sunset from the view area.

The hotel is very nice, nice pool, nice garden and good food in the restaurant. Very helpful and nice staff. Unfortunately the beaches on this side of the island are quite rocky, black sands and only few places to lay at the beach.
I know that i am quite picky when it comes to food; but beside the hotel restaurant it´s quite difficukt to find good restaurants nearby. You will need a car or motorcycle to go around.

It is a provincial town.
It is a provincial town. It is probably not the same as where you come from. The weekly market is bustling with colorful characters to talk to. Local transport is always best in market towns. Couple of nice local restaurants on the beach beside the Apo Island ferry and dive boats.
Leave your watch in the resort safe, and let your tummy guide you regarding food..... Cream up and wear a hat (always).

We stayed at Kavs Beach Resort and used it as our home base while we took part in the local tours. Apo Island is nearby and highly recommended. We loved Siquijor Island, be prepared to wake up very early to catch the ferry at Dumaguette but highly worth it. The Manjuyod trip we missed the low tide, we did this on our own so you would have to be in Bais by 8:00am which means leaving Zamboanguita by 5:00 am. It’s the same if you went with a tour company, the town is almost 2 hour drive away.
