Alistair (Ali) & Denise, your hosts at Pension Haus Maria, are originally from the south of England. Having spent well in excess of 30 years each in their respective careers, they welcomed the opportunity to move to Austria, a country they had frequented over the years. They moved to Austria and Pension Haus Maria in 2010. They love meeting people from all of the world and running a Bed & Breakfast has provided a perfect opportunity to do so. They do not see this as just providing a roof over a visitors head. They try to interact with the guests as much or as little as the guests prefer and are keen to pass on their knowledge of the area and go that extra mile to ensure the guests get the most enjoyment out of their stay. Lovers of the mountain environment, they found Ramsau to be perfect for them. Keen motorcyclists, the fantastic roads through The Alps and beyond are right on their doorstep. They are keen to take advantage of what the region has to offer from local culture and festivals to the beauty of wandering through the mountains and taking part in the many activities on offer.

Pension Haus Maria is a small family run Bed & Breakfast Pension with just 5 Double Bedrooms for a maximum of 10 persons. Located on the outskirts of Ramsau, it is close enough to walk to the centre of the villages but far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility. The Dachstein Mountain Range rises up directly from the rear of the house offering spectacular views. In summer we are right on The Panorama Walk and at the Trail Head for Gutenberghaus. Pension Haus Maria looks out across the Ramsau Plateau and the Enns Valley to Planai and The Schladminger Tauern to the south. In winter the nearest groomed access to The Loipe is just 50m away. The nearby family slopes in Ramsau are just a couple of minutes by car and a 10 minute car journey takes you to the main Alpine skiing mountains of Hauserkaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and The Reiteralm. While the nearest Bus Stop is just a few hundred metres away, the timetable is limited but does connect with the more frequent routes passing through Ramsau itself. For Alpine Skiing, your own transport is recommended. Blessed with more than its fair share of sunshine, Pension Haus Maria is and ideal location for a break any time of the year.

In summer Pension Haus Maria is a Schladming Dachstein Summer Card Partner and all guests at Pension Haus Maria receive The Summer Card included in the cost of their stay. Activities free of charge include Lifts and Cable cars including the gondola to The Dachstein Glacier, local swimming pools and bathing lakes and a variety of activities from hiking through "Wild Waters" to a Paragliding Taster Course. The Summer Card also offers discounts on many more activities including the Mountain Go Karts on Hochwurzen, the famous Zip Line at Stoderzinken, Whitewater Rafting and much, much more. In winter Ramsau is a Winter Sports Paradise. Over 230kms of Loipe make it probably the best Langlauf Skiing Area in Europe. Alpine Skiing includes the family friendly slopes in Ramsau and the major ski areas around Planai that hosted The World Championships in 2013. Ski Touring is very popular along with Snow Shoeing, Sleigh Rides, Tobogganing or just a walk in the snow.
