Location 2 blocks from the sea, park across the street, near marina.
This is a budget hotel-- with that in mind, it was excellent. It is basic, but clean and comfortable. Single rooms (which our friends had) have bathrooms with collapsible shower stalls that work in very small space. Some reviews complain about this--but our friends ( seasoned travellers) found it adequate.
Staff are welcoming and gracious.

Imagine a holiday back in time, to those cheerful and self-indulgent Belle Époque years. Viareggio is one of those Riviera-style resorts where you can still feel that spirit in the air. Situated in the heart of northern Tuscany’s ‘Versilia Coast’, it is composed of Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings, tranquil sandy beaches, and stylish shops and restaurants.
Located 80 km from the beautiful ‘5 Terre’ and 100 km from Florence, Viareggio’s first two beach resorts were opened already in the 1820’s. Its famous carnival begun in 1873, and since the 1920’s a huge parade along the seafront promenade is encompassed by concerts, theatre plays and masked balls. If you’re planning to visit this area of Italy during carnival, check the availability for hotels in Viareggio in advance.
Being a beach resort, summer is king here, and the spirit of the 20’s gets back to life showing the new trends in style. The historic hotels of Viareggio revive, and the promenade goes one more time through its seasonal ritual.
The city is 26 km from Pisa International Airport and is serviced by the local railway station. Before planning your Versilia holiday, check out the hotel deals on Booking.com!

Beautiful sunsets across the beach area.
Beautiful sunsets across the beach area. Walk along the pier and find more places to eat which are cheaper. Book restaurants in advance. Make sure you have lunch when its lunch time, shop kitchens do close early. Dinner starts around 8:30pm onwards if you go out. Book a taxi as you will not find one in the street easily, they mostly hang out at the train station. Hard to get info on the buses but they are there if you can understand Italian. Know your prices as they spot tourist a mile away. You can catch a train easily to see other areas but give yourself plenty of time 😊

Viareggio is a fantastic place, sea and mountains, close to cities of art such as Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Garfagnana, the Cinque Terre in Liguria. You can enjoy a holiday in absolute relaxation, practice sporting activities, beautiful bike rides from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi along the sea, or nightlife in the clubs and discos of Versilia.

The beach is great, but most of it is sectioned off among private operators who charge for a spot under an umbrella. I was expecting this, so not the end of the world. There is a scrap of "public" beach right down the end, but without transport, that wasn't really an option.
Lunch bites were good from a couple of pizza places that sell by the slice. Evening dining was generally expensive, about £50 for two.
Lots of gelato stores - at a price.
Lots of posh shops. Canal/harbour was interesting. Hiring bikes and cycling round park was fun.
Not a lot of "culture". There is a big historic tower - which was shut. Art gallery also shutso we had a day trip to Cinque Terre on the train.

Lovely beach, great food and friendly people.
Lovely beach, great food and friendly people. Doesn’t take long by regular train service from Florence, and no time at all from Pisa. Highly recommend if you’d like a beach holiday in Tuscany ! makes a nice break from the summer crowds in Florence and Pisa if you are in the area.
If you take the train from Viareggio direct to Florence (or vice versa), you’ll get a seat - get to the stations at Florence or Viareggio 25 minutes early to get a good seat and space for luggage, in summer it really fills up at the two stations in Pisa. Get the Trenitalia app, and buy your tickets on the app, tells you how many seats there are, and help pick a less crowded train, the earlier the better we found! and don’t forget to check in on the app with your ticket to avoid a €200 fine!

Viareggio is a wonderful place to visit.
Viareggio is a wonderful place to visit. It is convenient for day trips to places like Florence, Lucca, Pisa, etc. The beach is wonderful. We were there to spend time with family, but anyone wanting to visit Tuscany could use Viareggio as a home base for day trips and still enjoy the beach. It is very popular with locals, so the weekends are super busy - less insane during the week.
This was a great stay. One of my best 3 Star in Italy. The staff so really nice and I was able to even store my bicycle save on the balcony ☺️
Room has been very nice with balcony and sea view. And most importantly in Italy they do not have those thin walls where you can hear every single word of your neighbours. It’s directly at the Main Street but windows are very isolated. But anyway k always carry oropax with me. Breakfast was also good. Ebene for vegans. They had home made banana cake 👍 I will return one day
Came for two nights during Carnavale at Viareggio. The hotel is located inside the area of the parade (at the somewhat quieter edge) and that was super, I could pop into the room for a few minutes in the middle of carnaval, and also had a balcony view to carnival! Staff really friendly and professional, hotel design to my taste, very clean room, pleasant showeroom, good wi-fi, quiet at night. Room was small but I liked it and it fit my needs. Great value for money. Happy to recommend.
It's an old hotel but yet the bathrooms and walls have been refurbished and look like new, we stayed on a double room with private bathroom it was a bit tight but at the end was comfortable, Viareggio is very expensive I don't know why, so this was the best option price, quality, location, if you are in a budget this is the place to go and you will have a good time, they also have plans that include 2 meals, I didn't tried it but look very fresh and smelled delicious
The breakfast was amazing- thank you for the variety! I came to the hotel on crutches after a bike accident. The wonderful owner asked if I needed a wheelchair-she could lend me one🤗. I was able to enjoy Viareggio while my husband pushed me around in the chair. THANK YOU for the generous attention. Thank you for the coffee at night on the patio - it was the perfect end to our day! i wish you a prosperous summer season after a tough two years!
So much better than expected. Booked the villa for its location, found a lovely Italian style house, clean, with all the amenities one needs to have a comfortable stay. After a day spent on the beach or site sightseeing was such a treat to return to the quiet and fresh cool villa.
The host, Luca, such a lovely person, we arrived late and he waited for us, made sure we had a good stay and had useful information to share about the location.
The stay was great, comfortable and clean, don't expect luxury, but it's well kept and more than enough for a good night's sleep. There's fridges you can use and a lovely dining/outside area. Overall very homely.
The host was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding areas if you're planning to also visit Italy after Viareggio it's well worth a chat, he gave us some great tips on locations, parking, etc.
Location is really good, it is easy to get there from train station on foot, main promenade of Viareggio is also very close from the hotel, in the park nearby there are bicycle rentals. Our room and bathroom were both really small but we saw that on pictures so it was not a surprise. I can recommend this hotel for the night or two, for longer stay I would probably choose sth else :)
A fantastic spot to stay in Viareggio. We loved every aspect of our stay here. Facilities are some of the best we have had in Italy. The Host is incredible and made our stay comfortable and homely. The location is 10 out of 10. Great value for money and will definitely be staying here again and would recommend to others !!!
This hotel is beautiful, clean, and in a great location. Although the hotel doesn’t have parking or a pool, service was especially amazing and we would go back for this alone – so kind and went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. Also, breakfast was great which is a bonus.
This hotel mixes that old world European charm with updated amenities. it felt a bit dated at first but after walking around the facility you’ll get. it’s clean, comfortable has updated bathrooms and the staff is great. the best of the mixed with what you want of the new.
Great location across from the white sandy beaches. Hotel has arrangement with beach/pool club - worked out well. Plenty of food options nearby. Employee at reception was wonderful in arranging a COVID test we needed for my son for follow on travel.
PFA Viarregio was a convenient choice for our overnight in town – the staff was very friendly and the hotel very clean. It's located next to a lovely park and within walking distance of some great restaurants, too.
The breakfast was amazing with very good service. The room is lovely but the shower in the bathroom was a bit small. The hotel is right on the boulevard with ample shops and restaurants
Very nice renovated hotel. Lovely room, although no daylight.. Seems to be normal in Italy to have blinders on the balcony doors which cannot be opened. Good breakfast.
