Originally built as the family home, Villa Maria (Villa della Contessa) is steeped in history and embraces the rich traditions of the region known as "The Marche". The Marche is a vast treasure trove of cultural diversity and is steeped in history. The region embraces the Adriatic side of the Umbria-Marche Apennines’, yet in contrast features low-lying, sandy beaches. An art historian and antiquities expert, Mr. Cotroneo can create personalized, private art and history tours of the Marche, with visits to exceptional dining favorites typical to the region. Mr. Cotroneo was born and raised in Rome and his heritage dates back through many generations. His expansive knowledge of antiquities, art history, and the multitude of historic sites in the Marche will compel you to tour the area with his elegant story-telling.

Villa Maria is the original name of my property. It was necessary to initiallly list the property as "Villa della Contessa". Quietly perched on the sloping hillside overlooking the Valley of Chienti, Villa della Contessa (Villa Maria) is located in Corridonia, in the Marche region of eastern Italy. Originally built as the family home, Villa Maria (Villa della Contessa) is a private residence and home to the charming host, Stefano Cotroneo. The warm and inviting ambiance of his family villa is enhanced by the memorabilia and antiquities that adorn every room. You will be compelled to investigate the memories and the history of the villa with Mr. Cotroneo while relaxing in the quiet comfort of the seating rooms or chatting over a café and dolce in the breakfast dining room. A private upper level terrace provides a panoramic vista of the Chienti valley below the Villa for you to relax and enjoy the stunning Marche sunsets or wake to the gentle sounds of the morning. Having the highest hillside position in the Corridonia countryside, the terrace view is over 60 kilometres-sea to mountains. The property is surrounded by an abundance of fruit trees and a garden, home to a pleasing variety of roses, perennials, and flowers. Olive trees and persimmons accent the property. Built in 1913 Villa Maria warmly opens its doors to its guests with a unique variety of apartment suites. In the pleasantly landscaped area surrounding the villa, relax and enjoy the countryside panorama or exit the property for a leisurely stroll to the nearby public garden and park at the villa Fermani. The historic town centre is a short stroll with period buildings dating back to the 13th Century. Visit the Church and Gallery of St. Peter, Paul and Donato. The gallery contains masterpiece paintings from the Marcus school of painters, including the work of Carlo Crivelli. A tour desk is available for personal consultation in the Villa, with Mr. Cotroneo
