Fès is a kaleidoscope of colours, smells and sensations, and its intricate urban design is an allegory of its own identity. Live up to the pace of this ancient Babel, and go the whole hog immerging yourself into its 1001 Nights atmosphere. Check out the Booking.com hotel deals in fascinating Fès and enjoy!
Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.
The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.
The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!
I travel frequently. Fez, and Morocco in general, is underwhelming. While several day trips are possible, the main attraction in Fez is the Medina. It is interesting to walk through it but after a few hours I had enough. You cannot enter most attractions (Mosques, University) so you're left wandering the Medina. The shops are diverse in terms of merchandise but they are overly aggressive and often rude.

I lived in Fes for five years, so I will be biased.
I lived in Fes for five years, so I will be biased. I love this city and it has a special place in my heart. I learned Arabic here over 20 years ago, I came back some years later and worked as an English teacher and Arabic to English translator, and my recent visit was a visit for the peace of my soul.
If you are going to visit with a family, I would recommend an apartment in the new city (la Ville Nouvelle), especially the two that I stayed in. The old city (the Medina) is not easy to navigate with a stroller and the facilities in the riyads there are not family friendly (unless you are willing to pay top dollar), to say the least. Staying in the Medina means roughing it, so if you're young and single, or a young couple with no children, maybe you can hack it.
For food, I highly recommend Jawhara Cafe next to the American Language Centre (Rue Ahmed Hiba) for breakfast (great harsha, malawi, coffee, tea etc.) and Restaurant Florence on Rue Hassan II for lunch or dinner; they make amazing couscous, tagine, and every great Moroccan dish at great prices.

What an amazing city - filled all the senses .. such warm hospitality, amazing food and history abounds - the artisans and craftsmanship of the local people was astounding - I loved every minute during my stay from the getting lost in the Medina's alley's to exploring the historic city - My tour guide Hassan was magnificent - so spoiled by all his knowledge and ability to read his customers.... We so enjoyed all his recommendations and more importantly - all the knowledge he shared with us - Please make sure you allocate enough time in this beautiful city and enjoy the hidden Roads and their restaurants! The food and spices are simply amazing!

Fez is good just for a day and it’s good to go to chefchouien from there for a day trip. Be careful of the people who take you to the tanneries and local outlets where they overcharge for stuff. The Medina has lots of shops having cheaper stuff of similar quality so better to check in different places before buying. Food is very good everywhere. Taxis are cheap. Place is very safe.

just dont. Morocco has a lot more good cities to spent time. If you really want to see then 1 day would be plenty but for me even this duration might be too long. In this city you always need to be on your toes or else you are an easy target for people who wants to just squeze money out of you
Riad Fes Aicha is the best place to stay.
It is very close to the entrance of the Medina (the most interesting attraction of Fez).
The host Omar is very kind, helpful and very nice.
The breakfast is very good, plentiful, full of fresh and homemade food. Moreover, on the morning of our departure, the flight was at 6 a.m. and Omar prepared a take-away breakfast for us (even if it wasn’t the breakfast hours).
The room was comfortable.
Omar gave us numerous recommendations.
We highly recommend this hotel.
Beautiful place, like from a fairy tale, with a roof top terrace overlooking the heart of medina. Friendly, professional people ready to provide advice and assistance. Mr. Rafael, the owner, makes sure that you are treated with a nice attention and he gives insightful advice on travelling in Morocco. Heavenly cuisine and rich breakfast prepared by Mrs. Fatima. Big thanks to Abdul who has assisted throughout the whole stay, arranged trips or hammam. I would like to stay again when next time in Fes.
The riad is something else, in the middle of the Medina but not noisy, the interior is astonishing, the decoration is so authentic, my partner and I visited Morocco for 2 weeks and Fes was one of the destinations, when reaching the riad Mr. Bouchta texted us before to give us instruction. The rooms where fully equipped, AC, the linens were super clean, white and ironed. We had dinner at the riad and the food was delicious, breakfast are also very good, the bread was amazing! 👌🏾
One of the highlights of our 3 1/2 week tour of Morocco! Monique, the owner of the Riad has done a fantastic job in re-building and creating a gem . We stayed in a suite for 3 nights, fit for a king (wish it could have been more). Great breakfast, quiet place to relax from the hectic Fes Medina. If you looking for a place in Fes with easy access, close to the Medina, Riad Norma is the place!!
Thank you Monique, Younes and rest of staff for making this a memorable experience!
the property is located in the Medina about a 5 minute walk from the blue gates entrance. it is close to anything you could possibly need. the property itself is stunning. the staff and owner were amazing! my room was beautiful and quiet. I felt like I was the only one there. I slept in and missed breakfast, that’s how relaxed and at home I was there. everyone was helpful and attentive. the best stay I’ve had in Morocco thus far!!!
The place is really beautiful and comfortable, a typical Moroccos styled house well placed right at the entrance of the Medina with a sweet view of the city from the terrace. Also the staff was very kind and really helpful, giving us a lot of information about the city. The hospitality and the services were very good. We had a nice stay at the hotel and we suggest it to everyone who wants a peaceful stay in Fes.
The best hotel we stayed at in Morocco - the hotel is exquisitely refurbished in a perfect location close to the edge of the Medina. Breakfast is phenomenal as are the dinner options. Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful during our stay. Our group also booked the Hamam and massage, which was a great way to relax after the long transit into Fez. Highly recommend Riad Rcif all around
The hotel is exactly like the pictures, very beautiful and authentic. The terrace/rooftop has great views to the medina and is a great place to have a tea.
They cook the best food we have tasted in Fes.
The staff was very welcoming, but special mention to Amine, who was very helpful and gave us great recommendations and made us feel like at home at Medina Social Club. 100% recommend.
Three of the loveliest woman help to run this riad. Absolutely delightful. Thank you, ladies! One of them was a magnificent cook - some of the best food we had during a month in Morocco - definitely order a dinner here! The rooftop terrace is very high, with a great view of the medina. Our room had outside windows, which is not true of some riad and dar rooms.
Dar Lantana is located in the heart of Fes Medina, a good starting point for exploring the sourroundings. Catherine is an excellent host, really helpful and supportive. Breakfast was super good and the room was comfortable enough (don't forget that Dar Lantana is a traditional riad, meaning that rooms can't be as spacious as common hotels' rooms).
This hotel Riad is absolutely a Representation of Fez Medina Rituals, spending one night is just one thousand nights and night . You will surprised by the amazing details, architecture, mosaic & moroccan Zelij..
You will feel home by the kindness professional services & the great hospitality which we had received by the staff.
Best stay we had in Morocco! The people working here are so friendly, helpful and helped us with whatever we needed! Also the most beautiful Riad we stayed in during our travels in Morocco. The suite we had was by far the best and biggest room we had. Would 100% recommend. If we ever come back to Fes we will stay here again.
Beautiful Riad in the heart of the Fes Medina. Our room was wonderfully decorated in the Moroccan style.
The breakfast on the terrace was the best we had while in Morocco. Truly superb!
Othman was a superb host! He seemed to work 24hrs a day!! Always gave us good advice and was very available for suggestions.
The location is ideal to discover the Fes Medina. The hotel is an old house which was well restored to reflect the ancient style. All the staff were very helpful. Ideal for someone who loves to travel back into the past to get a feel for how people lived hundreds of years ago.
We had a great stay in the best place in Fes ever, very welcoming staff, wonderful view from the terrace, you can also have meals in it like breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner, easy location next to Bab Rcif the entre of the old medina just 50 metr.
We were told that Riad Fes Maya was built by a pasha; it's the most sumptuous hotel I've ever stayed in. Tile, carved plaster and wood everywhere. The bedroom was large and comfortable. Breakfast on the roof in a glass room with a wonderful view.
Perfect hotel for Fes touring. Nice area and very close by car to the Medina and other Fes attractions. Rich and delicious breakfast. The room was equipped with a balcony which helped us to see the city view.
we moved to this hotel for the pool! Most other hotels with pools in Fes seemed overpriced. this is a great location for getting around the Medina in Fes and going to all the good spots.
**Chef's kisses** Hands down, this is one of the best hostels I stayed at in Morocco. The host is one of the friendliest, professional hosts I met. I highly recommend it.
