Lovely little hotel, just a 10-minute walk from the train station and from Ortigia. The reception and breakfast room are very charming and staff were all very helpful and kind. Our room looked out onto a nice little courtyard and we found all the facilities to be well-kept and clean. A great place for a short stay in Siracusa!

The hotel is a throw back to the early 20th century - very old world charm. The location can't be beat - right on the water. And it's a short walk from the hotel to all the sites, restaurants, attractions in Ortigia. The room was comfortable, again, very old world decor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All good until they changed my room without asking me, with no explanation. I just returned from a trip and found another person in my room. To make it worse, when moving my stuff (open laguage, personal things laying in the room) they lost some clothing that were on my bed. They made me look that i'm insane just showing me the cleaned room and telling me that nothing was left in the room. Furthermore instead of trying to find a way to settle the matter, they just said to me that i should make a claim. I've sent messages as not to make a negative review and assist me with the process of setteling this matter, no response.

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.
Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.
The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.
The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.
Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.
Siracusa is a beautiful, historic town. The architecture is stunning. I wish I would have stayed longer so I could have explored more of the museums, cafes, and local shops.
Visit the archaeological park. I will surprise you.
Allow yourself to just get lost in the city streets. You'll find some many interesting shops, cafes, buildings, etc.

We love Siracusa, especially the island of Ortigia.
We love Siracusa, especially the island of Ortigia. Our favourite activity is to walk around the entire sea-wall and enjoy the light, the water and the fresh air. The Duomo: a Greek Temple, Norman Church, Baroque Cathedral; is one of my favourite buildings anywhere.
Over on Siracusa mainland, the Paolo Orsi archaeological museum is a fascinating place to visit, as is the Basilica di Santa Lucia, home to a glorious Caravaggio.
The market on Ortigia, and the local restaurants, are a food-lover's delight. To sum up, Siracusa provides the perfect escape from a northern European winter!

We very much enjoyed our two day stay in Syracuse, walking the narrow streets, window shopping, and marveling at the beautiful old buildings. We had great food and saw some wonderful art. Its a beautiful, interesting, walkable city.

Our hotel was on the island of Ortigia, a pleasant location.
Our hotel was on the island of Ortigia, a pleasant location. We explored Ortigia's cathedral and churches, the Bellomo Palace Gallery, the market, the crypt and underground tunnels of St Philip. On day 2 we visited the large Archeological Park in Syracusa and then went to the Museum. The latter was very disappointing - badly lit, broken AV presentations, no floor plan and unwelcomg staff. This area isn't easy to reach on public transport either. Day 3 we took an enjoyable short boat trip and day 4 we took the Interbus to Noto. Three days would have been sufficient.

Easy to get around with public transportation.
Easy to get around with public transportation. There were enough things to do to keep us busy for two days - puppet show, cathedral, underground tunnels, archeological park. Affordable prices. Stay away from main tourist spots on Ortigia. Food is better on the mainland. The boat trip was fun.

The best part by far is the Island Ortigia easily accessible from Siracusa via the main road. I would recommend staying on the island if you can because this is where you will want to spend your time when visiting Siracusa. We only stayed one night and could easily done another night.
Unfortunately, my daughter contracted food poisoning from one of the restaurants on the island (dodgy Tiramasu we think) which rather spolit matters for us personally as you can imagine.

The hosts Mauro and Lisa were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The apartment was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It is located in the northern part of Ortigia and 3 mins walk from the fish market and 10 mins walk from the historical centre. I would highly suggest anyone who plans to stay here try the cafe and restaurants that Mauro and Lisa recommends. Autentica Ortigia was by far the best apartment/hotel of our entire Sicily trip.
The hotel is exceptional. The staff were the most attentive of any hotel in which I have stayed. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The hotel surroundings - pool, gardens were perfect. The breakfast was of a very high standard as pointed out by several other reviewers. Although slightly over-priced when compared to restaurants throughout the rest of Sicily, the standard of food served in the restaurant was also very good.
Amazing, such a beautiful palace. Location and service were 10/10. Cleanliness… everything was flawless. The juniour suite was the most beautiful hotel room I’ve seen in Sicily. Special thanks to Silivia, who was extremely helpful and went out her way to tell us where to go and see the Perseides meteor shower. Also to Angelo for being so polite and immaculate!
I felt like I was in the Grand Hotel Budapest, in a good way. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Sicily. Nice walk into the city as well. Breakfast was fine and I found the staff on the desk helpful and friendly.
great little hotel - well located - and not far from the best beach in Sicily. The owner and family were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Even though we stayed online night, it was memorable and I would return tomorrow.
