The hotel occupies a fabulous renovated 1940s building in the center of town - - the architecture and vintage decor evoke the mystique of the colonial period. The rooftop bar is perfect for enjoying the sunset. The owner and staff were very welcoming.

The town has a great market and walking along the riverside is fun. There is not much action on Grab/PassApp, but everything in town is walkable anyway.
The dolphin boat ride was beautiful and exciting! The locals seem to really care about the dolphins and the boat driver knew exactly where to find them.
I don't usually go on tours but I am glad I went on one in Kratie. There are some neat things around the area that we never have discovered by just looking at the map. I would recommend hiring a local guide to take you.

Lovely city, we stayed there on our way to Sen Monorom and I am pleased we stopped there. We went to see the dolphins and the temple on the hill. We also went to the island with the boat, it was great as there were a lot of people due to a holiday. It's not a big city, so it's easy to get around by foot. People are very friendly.

Spend 1 or 2 days in Kratie to kayak and see the dolphins.
Spend 1 or 2 days in Kratie to kayak and see the dolphins. The route down the river to the dolphin sighting area is simply gorgeous. Do stay at the Silver Dolphin Guesthouse and Restaurant as their rooms are value-for-money and their food is great. Make sure you engage Dolphin Kayaking Adventures as the guide, Lucky, is very friendly and experienced. You will definitely get to see Dolphins and much more if you sign up for his tour.

Kratie is like the river city that tourists have forgotten which adds to appeal as you are often not within sight of other tourists besides close to the hotels. Next time we'll spend more time at Koh Trong!!

If you want to have restful holidays and be nearer to nature...
If you want to have restful holidays and be nearer to nature, Kratie is one of the right places to go in Cambodia. The Irrwaddy dolphins are elusive and rare some days, but other days you can really enjoy and take good pictures.
Privada Lodge is an excellent hotel for anyone visiting Kratie and the surrounding region. The location above the main market puts Privada Lodge in an exciting part of town. The interior design is a unique mix of motorbikes, Myanmar film posters and Indochinese furniture. The beds are extremely comfortable and the owner Alex goes out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable. Make sure to try their excellent salads and ratatouille.
Pool is reasonably clean and well maintained. We are one of the few first guests since the pandemic. The room is good size, big enough for our family to share. The staffs are brilliant, super friendly and very helpful, they help to organize the trip to see the river dolphin as well as our transport back to Phnom Penh. The restaurant is great, we spent lengthy time there, food as surprisingly good, and the happy hour is awesome.
A beautiful idyllic resort with charming wooden villas and very friendly, helpful staff. Remote location on the tip of the island is a perfect get a away despite a little challenging to get too without any instructions given by hotel.
Despite challenges, really enjoyed the stay....the discounted rates make it value for money at this time. They will need to fix the issues to be able to charge their usual rates again.
Le Tonle is a Training-Hotel, where young staff get their practical education in Hotellerie. They are exceptionally attentive, friendly and motivated.
Le Tonle has shifted, from a Side-Land to the road right at the riverfront. So, from the common balcony on every floor you get beautiful views on the Mekong. Especially in the evening, the sunset-view is spectacular.
All together a completely pleasant stay.
beautiful resort and most amazing private huts! decor was amazing and a roll top bath! great for couples wanting to treat themselves. the island is unique as well and a must for off the beaten track with no cars and to cycle around for a real authentic Cambodian life feel.
food was delicious and pool was great. one of our fave places on our trip! can’t wait to come back!
The team is super super Nice, we wished we could have stayed longer but we had a travel schedule to respect. The accommodation is great and location convenient. The Kayak tour they organised for us was fantastic and we saw what we came for (the dolphins). Sunset from the terrasse is stunning! Big thank you to the brothers 😉
Thanks to the polite and caring staff. We were helped to arrange a transfer from another city to this hotel. The hotel employee knew English well and helped us a lot. We liked the hotel. Convenient location and nice rooms. The hotel has a restaurant. From here it is convenient to start the journey to the dolphins.

Family run guesthouse where they really care about your stay. Great location and they offer a brilliant dolphin watching experience which is great value, plus all the money stays with local people
Fantastic open air restaurant and bar overlooking the Mekong. Great staff. They organize great kayaking trips to see the dolphins and this was definitely worth it. They also have bikes for rent.
Great view out from the open top floor reception cafe. The dolphins kayak tour was amazing. Loved going through the trees and sandbars, then saw lots of dolphins
Staff all had good English
We loved the lush green environment and the villas. It is on an island and it is a little effort to get to the hotel via ferry and motorbike/tuktuk but it is well worth!
Large, very clean room. Comfortable beds.
Small bathroom.
Nice open spaces and balconies in hotel to hang out but very hot.
Staff were very responsive and welcoming.
It is a nice hostel. The room is big an clean. And there is a terrace where you can see the sunset. We enjoyed our stay at the Silver Dolphin Guesthouse.
Friendly staff, nice & big rooms with comfortable beds. Fan was strong too. Helped us book seeing the dolphins through the hostel for reasonable price.
