The pictures don’t do this property justice! Gorgeous gardens with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the quiet and the greenery. The house itself feels like a castle but with all the mod cons. Spacious bedrooms and living areas, plenty of bathrooms, 2 showers and a jacuzzi! We enjoyed everything and highly highly recommend!!

We literally stayed in a castle. Was amazing. 360 degree views from atop a tower. Quaint and quiet little town. Easy parking and access to the newer part of town. Lots of games. And the TOWER was sooooo cool!! We absolutely LOVED our stay. I would love to come back someday. Thank you.

Everything was perfect. Amazing sommelier and wine tasting, great help coordinating electric bike rentals and massages, astounding grounds and views, and the panoramic room exceeded all expectations. Also — I’ve never stayed at a better smelling property. What a hidden gem!
The old city is wonderful. Worth to visit. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I recommend to have a dinner in Marchese Val d’Elsa. View is stunning and food delicious. And the trip to go there is beautiful with absolutely great views. You need a car. It’s a 20 min trip.

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of Tuscany. It had a train station so we could make our own way around to explore and sightsee. When visiting towns without a train, we took a taxi (NCC). Several people we met had rented cars and they found the area to be very drivable. Certaldo Basso (lower town) and Certaldo Alto (up the hill) are connected by scenic, natural walking paths and for those who prefer something easier, the very quaint Funiculare (1.5 Euro return). We stayed in Certaldo Alto, the historic centre of town. In addition to the fascinating museums - do not miss the Nail Museum - there are B & B's , apartments, and a lovely hotel. There are wonderful dining spaces inside and outside, bars and the wonderful Gelateria! In terms of crowds, there were occasional groups of tourists in Certaldo Alto but many times we were the only people walking down the cobbled roads in the middle of the day. The peace and quiet was most welcome after the throngs of people in Florence and Siena. Certaldo is a very special place. nestled in the heart of Tuscany.

This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy...
This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy for its history and access to both Florence and Siena. Additionally, this town is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio and his featured in his major literature piece, The Decameron.
The new part of town is accessible with simple 10 minutes walks or via a mini railway (for a charge of €1,50); but you can also drive, thanks to the host who will manage getting the required permits.
Certaldo is very small but it sits at the crossroad of major communication roads, therefore it's easy to access Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, and even Pisa.

It's very pretty hilltop settlement but you can see everything in half an hour. The funicular is fun but a little restrictive if you need to leave early. There are some great restaurants. It's the ideal stop-off for lunch if you are traveling back to Pisa from further south in Tuscany but not a great base for wider exploration.

Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town.
Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town. There is enough space for parking near the funicolare, the transport up hill.
Certaldo is central for visiting Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence. And you'll be driving through the most romantic landscape.

We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours.
We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours. New part not much shopping or restaurants. Supermarket we visited as we had a kitchen and stayed 5km out. Close to other old towns worth visiting like Volterra.
We bought olive oil and wine from our accomodation which we loved.
The place has been absolutely amazing. It was above our expectations as we had the whole place for ourselves. The view is fabulous, we were very lucky to have a swimming pool for ourselves which was cleaned every morning by Mauro. They have been extremely nice to us despite the language. We would have liked to talk in Italian to tell them how amazing is the place !
The place is perfectly equipped and located. We for example to the train in Certaldo to go to Florence which make our trip much better. We can only recommend staying at this place.
The hotel is at the top of the steepest hill (honestly it’s horrendous) but if offered the most amazing views and is so quaint and picturesque. This felt so authentic and satisfied the most romanticised version of Italy you could ever imagine. Just be sure to use the funicular (tram) which takes you to the top - it’s very cheap).
The room was a nice size with a wonderful modern clean bathroom and powerful shower.
The owner was nice and gave us free water and the continental breakfast was very nice.
Our room - Rosemary - had just an amazing view, wonderful seating area , comfy bed , and a terrific shower. The location , in the heart of Certaldo , cant be beat . The host Sasha , sent us all the info we needed to drive in to the LTZ , unload , and park . Excellent communication , and a nice breakfast. Probably the prettiest view we had in our days in Tuscany - it was a shame we only stayed one night. Certaldo is charming , well worth a visit off the beaten path.
The location was fabulous, right on top of the 4/5 restaurants in certaldo alto. One of them being the in house restaurant which was the highlight of our trip. We has a 5 course tasting menu which was an experience I will never forget! Erik and his wife have created the most beautiful stay with every attention to detail thought of and they couldn’t do more for you. The charm of this place is unbeatable, truly a hidden gem.
The location was superb, being a few minutes walk to the station and an equal distance to the funicular to reach Certaldo Alto. I am gluten intolerant and the lovely lady owner went out of her way to provide rice cakes and plum cakes, in addition to the yoghurt and preserves. The staff were superb, very attentive and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend this Guest House.
A true Tuscany experience….the grounds, the large rooms and oh so comfortable mattresses! That is the most important. Wine and water provided in your room. Great breakfast and there is a restaurant on site for dinner, starting at 8PM They have wine tasting also by appointment. Very relaxing place to stay!
The location and venue was like ‘living in an Instagram reel’ as one of my kids said. It is stunningly beautiful and the property is very well set up to give each group privacy. It is easy to get to many places like Firenze, Siena, Volterre. Certaldo Alto is worth a visit too. Loved loved loved our stay.
I had eaten at this Osteria before and it was delicious. The stay was comparable! It is well situated and incredibly beautiful. The host, Eric, was kind and very helpful. Certaldo Alto is a little gem and the Osteria del Vicario the best place to stay!
Great location. We traveled to Certaldo Alto for my brother in law’s wedding. The location was great. The accommodation had everything we needed and more with a baby crib. I would recommend to anyone and would stay here again. Lovely place!
The Views are great, very nice restaurants in close proximity. Location in between Sienna, Florence and the coast. Everything easy to reach. The roads are tiny but that is a given.
The wine is really good!
We drove by car to this place and stayed for 4 days. In the mornings the host made us breakfast herself. The hospitality is great. The place is really authentic and in the middle of the old town Certaldo.
This is a really beautiful place with extraordinary view of Tuscany, you can spot San Gimignano's towers on a neighbouring hill, and can enjoy the sunsets just behind another.
Located in Certaldo Alta, Tuscany this Hotel is a wonderful and quaint place to stay with a beautiful garden restaurant and situated just 25 meters from the Boccaccio Museum.
Comfortable and clean room. Shared bathroom was close by. Pretty and quiet area. Friendly owner. Free parking space right next to the house. 10 min drive from Certaldo
