A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

Beware of certain e ticket companies that wont get you skip the line tickets. Get the official e tickets and go to the front of the queue as the e ticket line is hard to see with the length of queues at the Acropolis and National Museum. If you don't get e tickets you could be standing in baking heat for over an hour like we did.
Having said that the Acropolis and the museums are amazing - the Greeks the friendliest people and the food delicious. Great for cat lovers too as they are all over the place and very entertaining.

We were in Athens for 3 days and it was perfect.
We were in Athens for 3 days and it was perfect. The city has a great atmosphere, the Greeks are very friendly and cheerful. Always willing to listen and provide good service. The cuisine is very tasty and well served. Points of interest such as the Acropolis or the Museo the Acropolis are mandatory stops in the city, as is a stroll through the streets of Plaka, a very cozy neighborhood. We definitely want to go back!

Athens was everything we expected in terms of historical sites to visit, and there were plenty of places to eat. IO Suites was clean and very well presented in a quiet area which was close to the Metro (about a four-minute walk to the nearest station). The 5-day Metro Ticket was super value and made it easy for us to get in and out of the central areas (Monastiraki [closest Metro Station to The Acropolis], Syntagma, and Plaka). A 3-day stay in Athens allowed us to visit the places we wanted to and then move on to Crete (although we also had planned half-days on arrival and departure days in addition which allowed us to maximise the Athens experience).

I like the fact that Athens is so green.
I like the fact that Athens is so green. The Acropolis surroundings are full of parks. Visiting the Acropolis is great but don't miss out on also viewing it from the Muses' hill and/or the hill of Ares. The walk around the Acropolis on the west side to the Agora is charming.
There are a lot of pedestrian streets. It makes wandering around so relaxing.
We also loved the Archeology and Benaki museums. Walking back from the Benaki museum in the embassies' district, we saw soldiers in traditional costume walk by which was a nice surprise.

Been there a few times for stays of a few days - we dislike cities, but you can put yourself in the Plaka and avoid most of the hustle. Take cabs to the museums and get dropped back - everything you need from breakfast to nightlife can be found within blocks - a great mix of foreigners to mingle with and the restaurant personnel are typically from all over Greece, knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. Hard not to like Athens if you approach it properly. Try Molina Mercuri for breakfast thru dinner, Anaflotika Cafe and Anefani (roof top terrace) Last two with excellent live traditional Greek music.
This is the second time I have stayed here on my trip in Greece, when I left first it was fully booked, but there was a cancellation and I happily came back the last days. Super clean, super comfy beds. The best place I have ever stayed, it already felt like home and I didn't want to leave. They make you feel at home there. I made very nice friendships too. The last few nights we shared dinners and it was very nice. I will miss you guys mi familia! And the jacuzzi! if I come back to Athens it will always be my first choice!
My family is from Greece and before we went to stay with them, we decided to be pampered at a luxury resort in the heart of Athens. We stayed at the King George before and now Hotel Grande Bretagne. Both are great properties. Grande Bretagne is a beautiful hotel- luxury at its finest. Staff was amazing and accommodating. Everyone was very thoughtful and friendly towards my 2 1/2 year old son who was treated like a prince. Good location, easy access to the metro, restaurant on the top of the hotel has amazing views.
Blazer Suites is best accommodation we had in Athens and possibly best experience so far in the capital of Greece. We arrived very early, about 8 am and our room was ready. We slept in huge comfortable bed with variety of pillows and suite was very nicely equipped with everything. The hotel provides excellent breakfast, room service and the pool zone is nice and “frenchy”. The main treasure is Blazer team. They really care to provide excellent service and this is what you never regret you payed for.
the host Dimitri was a very friendly and polite person. he showed us around the rooms and explained everything also gave information on how to get around for different things. Overall my wife, kid and I enjoyed the stay and we would recommend it to other families looking to stay in greece. Very well located, there is a parking garage, supermarket in 350mts and metro station in 550mts. the best place to live in athens, not exactly in the centre yet you feel you have everything around.
Nice apartment and in a very good position! We've been to Athens many times and we are happy with our choice. Great beds and very comfortable. Pillows are also comfy! The kitchen is fully equipped. Also despite the fact that in Greece the internet connection is not strong enough, this apartment provides a high-quality wifi connection. The check-in process is also soft and easy and the host allows us an early check-in. We will prefer it in the future for sure!
Clean and comfortable hotel just a quick walk from the Monastiraki Square/Train station. Dimitrios from staffing contacted us quickly to make finding/checking in smooth. He also went above and beyond by offering us a walking tour of Athens to tell us some history of the city/Greece in general. He also helped us with recommendations for our next stops in Greece. Highly recommend! Thanks again Dimitrios!
Amazing location right in Syntagma. Great staff with great communication and assistance with booking taxi, storing luggage etc. Great wifi. Lovely balcony. Beautiful bathroom with great shower pressure. Netflix installed on Tv. Nespresso machine. Good A/C that doesn't turn off in the middle of the night as other hotels in Greece do in the off-season (we visited in October). Would stay here again.
Aris and his team are without doubt the friendliest and most hospitable Hotel operators I have ever met. It felt like home. They greeted us with warmth at all times of the day and were always on hand to share recommendations for Athens and wider around Greece, or to simply chat and enjoy a drink at reception. We met other travellers and enjoyed our stay immeasurably.
Room larger than expected. Nice shower and comfortable bed. First hotel we stayed at in Greece that provided a washclotch, which was great considering how much we sweated. We arrived after reception closed and the hotel was very responsive about the process for late check-in, which was greatly appreciated. Good breakfast also. Can recommend this hotel.
We were super happy with the apartment! It was clean and with a good location. It was also equipped with everything that we needed. There was a park close by, syntagma, the main square, is about 20-30 minutes by foot. The Lycabettus Hill can also be reached by foot.
P.S.: First of many Hotels in Greece during that trip and it had super comfortable beds!
The location couldn’t haven’t been better!! Very close to everywhere you need to go and more. I’d recommend staying here over anywhere else due to the location. The hotel is updated on the inside and still very much old Greece on the outside which is exactly what you want when staying in Athens.
I loved our host. She was so accommodating and helped us so much. We were in Greece during a taxi strike and she made us very comfortable tortellini us how to qget to airport. It was a beautiful apartand the neighborhood in Athens the best. I will be back.
Very surprised positively by this hotel. One of the best ones we stayed in while traveling in Greece. Comfortable room. Amazing breakfast with a great variety. Centre of Athens. Metro and bus stations are a 5 minute walk.
Highly recommend staying here.
This is a very nice boutique hotel. Their hospitality is outstanding even for Greece. If you have a request or wish they really go out of their way to help you. The value for money ratio is off the charts. Great stay any time again!
Titania Hotel was perfect the location the breakfast was really delicious the staff was really friendly and easy to approach and they give you exact details 🙂 highly recommended this hotel...love to stay in Athens Greece
Downtown Athens and looking at the Acropolis on the top floor of hotel. The. Pictures cannot same enough. Wonderful. Very inexpensive. Time to go if you can. 3 days are enough. Greece is inexpensive. Travel
This was the best hotel of our trip to Greece. Really comfortable boutique hotel owned by two lovely sisters who really made our stay special. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Really fantastic hotel.
Right next to bus & train station. Upon first ariving to Greece I had no phone connection, so this hotel was very nice because it was so easy to find. Got off train, turned to the left, and it was right there.
It's located right off Monastiraki Square, a large shopping district in Athens, Greece. I love the area, and you can walk to most of the popular attractions in Athens.
