Queens, and especially Long Island City, has grown significantly since I was in high school in the 1970s. It is a beautiful community with plenty of activities for everyone, from eateries to grocery stores.

When we visited our son in Forest Hills our car was booted and it was $300 to pay the fine, I believe we were booted because of Ohio plates on our car. A ticket would have been enough. I have had tickets before and I have paid them. The past 20 years of visiting the city, always our car in the middle of NY lisence cars.

My flight was cancelled so I had to find a place to stay. What I loved about this place was that it was very close to the airport and the hotel offered shuttle service, the hotel was quiet and comfortable and the customer service was on point; the pleasant front desk agent even offered water. For the short time I had, the check-in process was quick.

We love queens because of the interesting restaurants and we enjoy the local culture. while our trip was focused on family visits in the past we have gone to Museum of the Moving image , the MOMA in Queens, and other sites. There are some amazing historical buildings - true hidden gems that are fascinating. It has some very human sized Neighborhoods and much less of the generic chains and boring steel and glass monoliths .

The area of LIC is extremely pleasant for a stay.

The area of LIC is extremely pleasant for a stay. It is an area where there is no crowding of tourists but is experienced by families and local subjects, it is real daily life. There are all the essential services: bars, restaurants, supermarkets, stores of all kinds (missing a CVS or Douane Read :-) ). The area is served by several subway lines and it is easy to get anywhere in Manhattan without too many changes. Midtown Manhattan is 2 subway stops away. It can also be reached by East River Ferry. The riverfront area has been excellently redeveloped and offers a wonderful park with views of the Manhattan skyline, Roosevelt Island, Queensborough Bridge, it is beautiful to walk in both summer and winter.

Good sized and well appointed room, with comfortable beds and a well sized bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast provided a decent range of hot and cold food. Whilst the area around the hotel isn't the most modern, the hotel is close to a range of food options and within 5 minutes walk of the subway, with direct connections to Manhattan and Queens. Further subways, with connections to Brooklyn, are within 20 minutes.

The Hotel is not far from subway line F, 10 mins walk to 21st Queensbridge, so it's a good option for tourists who dont want to pay Manhattan hotel prices.
