The free afternoon tea was great, we basically went there for it. It's close to the Kurashiki Bikan area, and we were able to walk around there at night.

This very pleasant and comfortable Hotel has an excellent location, just a few blocks from the train station, and also just a few blocks from the old town, the main attraction of kuroshiki. The town and the surrounding area are interesting. The staff is helpful and the breakfast was very good. I like that they had a refrigerator and electric kettle, as do all toyoko Inns.

Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay. If you travel off season, know that the boats are only operating during the weekend. No need to spend a lot of time here, you can see most sights in a few hours. Nevertheless, a beautiful city with an impressive historical center!

From the moment we decided to stay at Temari Oitoma Inn and booked our stay there the process was seamless. So, we were off to a good start and our good luck continued. The inn was close to Bikan Historical District, less than a 10” minute walk and there were many good restaurants and shops in the same area. There are many fun and interesting things to see and do in Kurashiki and we could have stayed there another couple of days. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Super cute city.
Super cute city. You can stay half day, but fyi the station near the old center it's 1h away from Shinkansen stations. If you arrive (very) early go book a boat trip along the canal at the turist center

Kurashiki was a major disappointment, a Disney-fied "historic" town that has sold its soul to tourism - restaurants offering the same dismal fare, trinket shops, soft ice cream outlets galore and mobs of tourists lined up outside same. You can walk it all in about two hours, including your break for ice cream. Put on a straw hat and take a ride along the 200-meter long "canal" to "partake of the history". Yawn.
Definitely not worth the time when Japan has so many much better places to visit.

Kurashiki is a small town that immerses you in very authentic local life. With cute shops, an old centre and nice temple park. And if you like, a big mall and supermarket. I needed some relaxing in a smaller city and Kurashiki was just what I needed!

The main attraction here is the Bikan Kurashiki Historical Quarter. The area is nicely restored and preserved, now used as cafes, eateries, museums, and shops (tourists). It is a cozy, safe, and pleasant environment to walk around. IMHO, this is a good hang-out place for a weekend getaway. Travel a bit south to Washuzan for a stunning hilltop view of Seto Ohashi Bridge and the beautiful port town of Kojima.
The location and staff were excellent (tourist area, convenience store, bars and restaurants all within a few minute's walk. Hotel food was great - a sumptuous Japanese breakfast and free late-night ramen.
Rooms felt a little tired and dated, but the hotel offered excellent services, rooftop onsen, sauna, relaxation room, massage chairs, laundry room, drinks machines, etc. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the reception desk was open 24hrs.
Would highly recommend.
We stayed in the family room, 4 adults, a little cozy when the futons are laid out, lol. We had both the dinner and breakfast set and both meals were delightful. We would never have thought to order meals like that on our own. The servers presented the dishes beautifully. They were pleasant and efficient. The staff were very kind. The Ryokan was beautiful and serene. A perfectly enjoyable stay !
If you are visiting the historic district of Kurashiki, this is THE best place to stay - superb location (in the district) and, as a historic building itself, it has personality. Our room comfortable, newly remodeled with high ceilings, and very quiet. Cool bar in the basement. Lovely open courtyard - wonderful for sitting outside when the weather is nice. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice public bath.
Great location few minutes walk from Kurashiki historial quarter. Private parking is not available, but you can use public parking which is just next to the hotel (for one night stay from 5pm to 10am we paid 1300 yens). Super easy self check in. Nice kitchennette with facilities like plates, cups, pan, chopsticks and microwave. Also big bathroom. Big plus for cleanliness.
Amazing location, great restaurant just across the road if you come out of the hotel and turn right. 8 minute walk to very beautiful historical district. Short walk to JR station. Best hotel Onsen of our whole trip! Breakfast is ok tried once, didn’t love it. Great size room; two windows one opens. Plenty of space for luggage.
Easy self check-in. Located near the JR Kurashiki train station, Ario shopping mall and Mitsui outlet mall. AEON mall about 25 minutes walk away. Small apartment has cooking and laundry facilities. It was very comfortable to live and sleep in. The nice owner, Aya, was very responsive to messages.
The staff is lovely! The hotel gives a feeling of home! The rooms are pampering - spacious and very clean. We sleep 3 people in the room. The location is very convenient, really close to the station and really close to everything you want to see in the area.
Location excellent.
Prepared breakfast box of sandwich ,soup was well presented but no fruit or cereal option.
However welcome afternoon tea on check in was excellent and special.
Traditional Japanese pub DADA a few metres from hotel was wonderful.
Kurashki Ivy Square is a unique and attractive family-friendly hotel located on the edge of the lovely Bikan Historical District. Our room was roomy by Japanese standards, bright and cheery and well organized. The public baths are a nice addition.
the room was very spacious and clean. location was on the quiet end of a street just across the start of the historic quarter. hotel was near a convenience store and restaurants and it was an easy 15 min walk to and from the train station.
Beautiful hotel, staff were very helpful, rooms/beds comfortable, perfect location for touring Kurashiki and in close proximity to train station. Highly recommend.
