A very strong, freezing wind was blowing, unfortunately, during my stay, which hampered my exploration of the Greymouth area. The library was well set up for Wifi and warmth. I was unable to find a cafe/restaurant with good food. Coffee was good. The iSite staff were friendly, and were able to answer all of my questions. I arrived on the TranzAlpine train, this journey was well worth while.

Global Village Travelers hostel was the most attractive of the six I stayed in during my visit to the West Coast. It was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Each bed of my female only dorm room had its own electrical outlet and light. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cookware. Lots of books and pamphlets in the common rooms about the surrounding area. I recommend it highly for solo female travelers!

Very good stopping pony to visit pancake rocks and the blow holes. We walked to the coal creek falls which was lovely. We drove to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Hokitika. Greymouth was okay but there is absolutely nothing to do when it’s raining. Its only a small town.. the big pils is it has no traffic lights!

We enjoyed eating at the Speights Ale House and having coffee at the Robert Harris Coffee lounge. Our stay at the Sundowner Motel was clean and spacious. Our hosts were helpful and this made our stay enjoyable. The information boards around the town were interesting to read as we walked around but once we had accomplished this there was not a lot else to do. We would have liked to hire a car and explore further a field but no one would allow us to hire a car for a day.

Greymouth itself is not very attractive but the coastal drive north to Punakaiki offers fantastic scenery, and Hokitika Gorge to the south will not disappoint. There’s a small restaurant in Greymouth called Sevenpenny which was very good, far better than the overpriced restaurant in our hotel.
From the moment we arrived, the staff did everything they could to assist us and make our stay a pleasant one. Our room was excellent and spacious, with lovely views back up into the mountain. While the exterior of the hotel is quite confronting - it is literally the largest and tallest building in Greymouth, the warmth of the people and facilities inside well make up for that. Parking is ample and easy to access. Would definitely recommend this as an accommodation destination.
The host is friendly, the place is casual with a home-like feel to it. However, bedding is clean and up to standard, adequate kitchen/bathroom facilities - functional and clean with spacious bedrooms. It's a quiet and peaceful area, good parking availability and a short trip from Greymouth. Suitable for travellers on a budget that enjoy nature within a casual and laid back setting. I'd probably return because the price is so attractive...
This motel was West Coast hospitality at it's best!! We were picked up from the train station by the lovely motel owner. we were welcomed like family, our room was warmed up for us and had so many thoughtful little touches. New World supermarket is right next door. We would definitely stay there anytime we were visiting Greymouth!!
We loved the warm welcome and short tour around the hotel. The surrounding was calm and quiet. We loved using the hot tub at night watching stars and we were lucky on that day to see lots of stars. The hosts were really helpful and recommended us nice places to visit in Greymouth. We really enjoyed the stay. Thank you.
Out of 14 accommodations on our holiday in North and South islands of New Zealand, this was probably the best we stayed in. The host was magnificent and the quality (and quantity) of the inclusive breakfast as we stayed in the lodge was exceptional. The room was big, well equipped and comfortable.
Just after we arrived in Greymouth, we had quite a severe thunderstorm which meant that we couldn't venture out. This motel was just about the best place that we could have been stranded !!! It was very roomy, spotlessly clean and had all of the facilities needed. First class place to stay.
From the start the girl taking us to Alan was polite and then Alan showing us to the new cabins and helping with the bags was great. A home away from home feeling.
The hints from Alan on things to do, we would have missed, like the Pancake Rocks and The Hokitiko Gorge were great.
Lovely place to stay. Super tastefully decorated and great recommendations from the owner. Kitchen is large and well equipped, bathrooms spacious and great warm showers. Highly recommend to stay here if you are in/around Greymouth
What’s up boutiques style motel. The owners offer a no host dinner, which was amazing and we suggest you opt in when they ask if you would like to join in the dinner. The dinner is a great bargain the food is delicious.
Liked everything about our stay at this Hotel. Great location for seeing the area - great restaurant on site with friendly and efficient service and staff. Room was spacious, clean and modern - with a good shower.
It was exceptionally comfortable and there were excellent amenities. It far excelled the two motels I experienced closer to Christchurch, and for a far better rate. I wish the new managers the very best!
Al was very friendly and helpful. This even extended to a tour of the town and a ride to our bus in the early morning. The breakfast served was excellent. It was a high point of our visit to Greymouth.
Very clean, good friendly
Staff.
Food was excellent. A real treat.
I had fish and chips the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was very crispy and clean.
I would highly recommend this Hotel.
The owners are lovely and even offered to upgrade our queen room to a newer and bigger room. They also suggested places to go to around Greymouth and where we can find dolphins by the beach.
great location out of town .
very close to the main road so slot for road noise . but the motel provides ear plugs. so very thoughtful
