La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes.
La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes. It has a high altitude, recommend altitude pills. The city has varying heights, for instance you are going up and down a mountain to get to the other side of the city. When you are on top you can see the bowl with many many houses. There is a cable car to take you from the bottom of the mountain and one neighborhood to the top of the mountain to another neighborhood. There are several beautiful landscapes in La Paz. Valley of the moon, valley of the souls, etc... There is also a lot of shopping in the city.

An authentic South American large city still evolving.
An authentic South American large city still evolving. Everywhere you go you realized this is not for tourists, this is really a nation which has its own identity and you feel it in everything. If you don't speak Spanish then get ready to learn. People very friendly, and living history everywhere. Leave a day for the 2 hour trip to the jungle area for the La Senda Verde animal rescue area.

La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind!
La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind! Explored history on a city tour, felt the passion of a football match, embraced culture in El Alto markets, conquered fear on Death Road, and soared above in the teleférico. Bolivia's heart revealed in a compact, unforgettable adventure.

La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes.
La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes. Its cable car transport system is both practical and a spectacular treat for tourists. It is far better to use this than to use ground transport; the roads in the city are chaotic. The people are friendly and helpful, there are very good restaurants. From La Paz a traveller has access to amazing places to visit, from Lake Titicaca, at over 4000 metres above sea level, to the Yungas, which form part of the Amazonian basin forest system. You have to be careful to have a heart and blood-pressure check before visiting La Paz, as its altitude can be stressful for anyone with a heart condition. But I have been there on a number of occasions, and find it fascinating. The street life and the many local gifts based on alpaca and llama wool are two special features.

Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow...
Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow covered Illimany on the background. We had one day and spent it driving cable cars and celebrating St. John in the park.

Location was great! Walking distance from Church Santo Domingo, calle Linares, and so close to the Red cable car station. Loved the local art around the Hotel, and inside the rooms. All painted and decorated. They have a restaurant on site, and elevators. The breakfast was good. Served at the 4th floor, with a view of the city.
Joana at the Reception was amazing! Very attentive to our needs, and very helpful at all times. I was allowed to check in early after a long overnight trip from Uyuni to La Paz! Very much appreciated.
This was a great hotel - as it is an aparthotel, the rooms were large with separate bedroom with a large king size bed. We had just come from a tour of the more remote areas of Bolivia where accommodation was very basic, so the relative luxury of this hotel was very welcome. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the city. There are a lot of dining options in the area and it is close to a cable car station with access to various parts of the city
Loved this hotel. It’s 400 year old building that oozes character. We had the King suite on the top floor under the rafters. A large room with sitting area, king bed, flat screen digital TV and good bathroom. Breakfast provided, eggs to order plus fruit and pastry items. Really nice staff in all areas of the hotel. Dinner is available, also a washing service. In a good location in La Paz, everything is a steep walk and this area is no different.
I went to this hotel to rest and be out of the city, use the sauna and jacuzzi. It was so beautiful and well kept and the staff were super professional.
Super loved chatting with the receptionist Angel who knew English and was very helpful.
I also got there late at night and it was no problem.
Breakfast selection was good, had bolivian meat cheese and bread but also western selections.
Also right beside a beautiful park to go walk around.
I stayed as well on the start as end of my trip to Bolivia at hotel sagarnaga.
A great place to stay in La Paz.
The location is very near the (turistic) centre of the city.
As well the manager as the other personel is amazing.
Very friendly people, ready to help you when needed.
Arranging taxi's, advicing, helping out with a local simcard, recommendations and more.
Also early check in and late checkout was no problem.
Secure, clean, bug free room with a surprisingly big bathroom and an effective heater (freezing at night in Bolivia in August).
Its also a great location right next to a lot of the shops, Witches Market, walkable to the squares and historical buildings.
Good wifi, good staff. They also held my bags for multiple days while on a climbing expedition and felt very safe and nothing got stolen or misplaced.
Large rooms and bathroom. Unusually large bed (for three). Quiet. Great views from the windows. Best breakfast in Bolivia. Best tasting fried eggs, big variability of everything, they even had bacon and oats.
Receptionist organised a tour to Chacaltaya for a 100BS per person. As well booked a taxi for a very early morning and taxi was waiting outside as expected.
Nice, welcoming place! We stayed there several times (as you don‘t really manage not to travel via La Paz when you visit different places in Bolivia). Always left parts of our luggage there (free of charge). Breakfast was good (I can’t understand the people complaining about having to pay for eggs in previous reviews - it’s super cheap, so what’s the problem?).
Comfortable room, hot shower, good breakfast and perfect location. Price quality this is top!
Most importantly, Rodrigo and his family were very welcoming and arranged so much for us (from airport taxis, to Bolivia Hop tours to Titicaca, to proper SIM card registration). This made us feel really comfortable and at ease at Iskanwaya! Would highly recommend! :)
The location of this hotel is great, close to the mercado de brujas. We arrived late on Sunday and were able to get an accommodation for an additional bed. We also were give a breakfast to go at 2am on the morning we left which helped us through the airport wait. The staff were helpful.
I've visited La Paz, 3 or 4 times already. Each time Bolivian Rooms is consistent. I was given a larger suite for the same price this time, with a bigger spacious bathroom. The staff each time is so kind, helpful and though we are all wearing masks - their eyes are smiling.
It's quiet.
Very friendly and helpful people, like in most places in Bolivia. The transfer from the airport is a very good deal and will save you a lot of hassle. The free breakfast is also a plus. Beds are surprisingly comfortable despite the room being a bit small. I fully recommend this place
I stayed at this hotel to visit the Uyuni Salt Flat and when I coming back from it. It located close to the bus station (very easy to access the center of La Paz). And, the room was large and clean enough for shot stay.
-nice bathroom with hot shower
-restaurant on site
-water refill for 5 bolivianos
-good kitchen
-staff kept everyone well informed about the protests
-ATM and laundry place across the street, supermarket not far away
Perfect location, Javier at the front desk was very friendly, took his time to help us with all the information we needed. The hotel is very clean, and we had nice breakfast. I recommend this hotel at La Paz.
This hostel is in a fantastic location and the manager was really helpful and answered all my questions. The breakfast is one of the best I’ve had in Bolivia, I would highly recommend staying here.
Very good location, nearby the Bus Terminal. The Owner, Oscar is very helpful! He will sort all your potential questions. Definitely a wonderful option for your stay in La Paz!
in the centre of la Paz. so nice to have a shower that is actually hot and powerful after weeks of cold showers in Peru and Bolivia. breakfast is simple and does the job
