It's a typical APA hotel but the breakfast was great for a Japanese buffet. Everything tasted great. It's convenient to the airport. It's relatively inexpensive as it is a business hotel.

The view of an active volcano from the window and from the hot spring bathtub on the balcony. Extraordinary. Location is also amazing. Easy to arrange a taxi to the national park area or use the infrequent bus service. National park in itself is a gem worthy of a visit, especially for volcano lovers and this is by far the best hotel to choose for this endeavour. All the facilities and amenities were in proper order. Great value.

Standard APA accomodations, but we had a stinky smoking room which was tiny tiny tiny for two people and one tiny bed :/
I think APA does that: they book two people into a "double" then upsell you at the front desk to a bigger room.
They did that to us in Ryugoku Tokyo property also...

If you like nature, you must like Kirishima, which is beautiful and peaceful. When you climb up to the volcano, you will be amazed at the magic of nature. The local people can’t communicate with English but very patient and nice.

The hills North of Kirishima are full of interesting places to visit such as hot springs, shrines, waterfalls, farms (good for kids) and beautiful nature walks. It is peaceful, the people are utterly friendly, making it a very pleasant area to stay.
With little kids it's good for about 3-4 days, after which it would be recommended to spend time around Kagoshima or further South too, which have again plenty if interesting things to see, do, discover. Make sure that you have your own transportation, otherwise it'll either get expensive or very time consuming to get around.
Food is NEVER an issue. Even in the smallest town you'll be able to find excellent Japanese food with a large variety. Cleanliness is indisputable and even if language is a major issue for most Japanese, the friendly smile is always there and pictures do the rest.
We are a family of 4, with 6-years old twins and will definitely return to Kagoshima / Kirishima and its surroundings again. We had a great time there and look forward to a next trip!

The trekking, the waterfall, the food and the shrine. Everything you can experience around here is second to none in Japan. I am sure a lone traveller (like me) or a family or friends or couple will find the happiness here!

If you like countryside and nature, Kirishima could suit you. We drove to some remote areas and experience different side of the Japanese living. A bit sad to see all these old towns are lacked of maintenance, lots of houses, shops are shut down perhaps they are lack of tourists to support them.

Spacious and warm home. Our host Shiro is really friendly & hospitable. We were welcomed with tea and homemade cheesecake. Every morning we woke up to freshly made breakfast with fresh produce from his garden. We love the private onsen best and to be able to sleep viewing the stars in the warmth of the tatami room.
Location is a great base to explore Kirishima & Mt Karakuni, many waterfalls & relax with nature.
Proximity to Kagoshima Airport. Convenient walk from Kokubu JR station on Nippou/Miyazaki line 1hr from Kagoshima Chuo and Kagoshima stations. Nice shopping on the way, Including large Daiso. Breakfast self service with good Covid measures and new individual places for eating. Staff tried to be helpful with no English and got me a taxi to the airport. Business hotel. Easy to find.
I really liked the outdoor onsen and the fact that you can use them anytime. The staff was also really nice and tried their best with speaking English. I also really liked the room, even had a balcony! The location is perfect to explore the national park, I would stay here again any time.
P.S. the info about wifi is incorrect, they do have it.
Good starting point for excursions. Room was nothing special, but had all things I needed. As typical in Japan, a little outdated.
I very much liked the outdoor onsen (Ryotenburo). It was a few steps to walks, but quite enjoyable.
Buffet dinner was one of the better ones in Japan.
The onsen was 10/10. Absolutely amazing and would have given a much lower score if not for the onsen. If I could go above 10/10, I would. Put differently, I would travel an hour or more to go to these onsen.
Additionally, the staff were amazing.
The room was big and the service was excellent. Breakfast was simple but yummy. Use of the onsen was almost like having your own private onsen. There is a tag outside the onsen to indicate if the onsen is currently in use and thus unavailable.
Great cabin in a small quiet village. The host was extremely nice and helpful and the private onsen was a great treat after a long day of hiking. The kitchen is highly equipped, and the coffee machine was a lifesaver. Highly recommend
Amazing service from Hotel Kyocera. Hotel bed is very good quality. Very comfortable hotel. Not too far from restaurants, JR line. Is a good hotel to stay at if you want to be close to Kagoshima airport.
Room average and tired. However excellent staff, great quality Onsen and good dinner service made up for it. Would stay again, once they finished renovating all rooms ~ which understand is end of 2022
Small friendly hotel and the hotel lady went out of her way to help. Despite Booking.com mentioning that there is no WiFi, well, there is, which was an added bonus. Also loved the hot spring
The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. They had umbrellas which we were able to use during the duration of our stay. The staff were kind enough to assist us with the check in kiosk.
The place was perfectly located to explore the Kirishima national park. The host was so kind and helpful. He even prepared a nice breakfast every morning. The bath was also awesome.
