Rooms were ran down and dirty. The WiFi sucked/didn't work. My room key stopped working once and my buddies twice. Walls were thin. I guess it was cheap though, so you get what you pay for.

Penang is my late dad’s hometown, so i’ve been visiting and staying in the Island many times since I was a child. I’d say that its capital George Town has it all; beaches, historical sites, shopping places, cultural centres, you name it and they got it.
One of the must-visit place in Malaysia whenever you’re in the country; please take note that it’s not that close to Kuala Lumpur/KL. If you’re driving from KL, it’ll take around 4-5 hours drive (and longer traveling hours train). Alternatively, you may take a 45 minutes flight via KLIA.
Oh, and skip the fancy clothing when you’re in Penang. It’s hot for the most part of the year. There’s no need to suffer in the name of fashion.

George Town is the perfect destination for those looking for a weekend getaway from the bustling concrete forest that is Kuala Lumpur. It is also perfect for those who hold a deep and special appreciation for cities that preserves their rich history and heritage. As you walk around the city, you can find yourself surrounded by many amazing street art and cute heritage sites, such as temples and other old Chinese architecture. And don't forget about the plethora of amazing and affordable street foods you can come across during your walk. Definitely don't end your day early and make the most of your evening as there are many night markets happening daily.

During our recent stay, Alan went above and beyond to ensure that our requests were handled efficiently and that we felt heard and valued as guests. His professionalism and dedication to his role did not go unnoticed, and it significantly contributed to the positive experience we had during our stay.
Exploring the local culinary scene, including Teksen Restaurant, Plus Eatery Cafe, Uncle Lim’s Kacang Tumbuk, and many others, was a true highlight of our trip. Having such a diverse selection of dining options nearby added immense value to our stay.
Thank you for providing us with a comfortable and convenient accommodation experience. We look forward to visiting again and indulging in more of the delicious offerings near your hotel.

UNESCO site, old buildings well kept, very clean streets all around. Friendly neighborhood, most business operators are very welcoming too. CAT Free shuttle bus service is excellent. We had great time visiting Kek Lok Si, The Habitat, Penang Hill, Peranakan Museum Penang, Blue Mansion, War Museum.
"The Top" at Komtar is very disappointed visit though, staff are not welcoming, very bad attitude. facility around is poor too, access to entrance is somehow confusing. Overpriced & not worth the visit.
The city council should pay serious attention in maintaining walkway of shoplots as we noticed many of the shop operator blocked their front walkway by using huge pots & plants, chairs, signboard, motorcycles and so on, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road side & fight with oncoming traffic, which already packed with double parked cars, potentially causing unwanted accident, this to me is totally unacceptable in such a beautiful city.
Tourism board/City council should erect more signboard for main tourist attractions too, it definitely helps tourists to walk around.

Charming city with a long history.
Charming city with a long history. The local food is amazing! Try the hawker stalls, local nyonya food/ restaurants. But if you want something fancier like modern western food, there are many new restaurants opened by the younger generation. Lots of coffee cafes operated by young people and they are great! It is easy to get around Penang in a Grab, and cheap too. Spend 1/2 day in Penang Hill - take the train up. Its only 4.5 min over a 2 km steep climb. The visit is worth it.
Having stayed at Muntri Mews previously, we decided to make a booking for Noordin Mews for our next trip to Penang and it was a great choice. The location is accessible and you can walk to various hotspots in Georgetown with ease, the staff is friendly and very accommodating and the hotel itself is clean and extremely pleasant. Recommended! Go for their Asian selection for breakfast, the food is very tasty.
Do note: this hotel is pet friendly, so there are pets roaming around on the hotel premises during the day.
The location is perfect. Check-in staff (Natasha) was very nice and welcoming, she arranged us very comfortable room. Other staffs were nice too! Restaurant was closed but there are many cafe/restaurants around. Car park is small but if you decide not to move your car and use grab or walk instead, you could secure one parking slot. Room was big and clean. Wifi and AC functioned well. In all, I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again and again when in George Town.
Probably one of the best hotels I stayed in Malaysia. Perfect location as it was easy to walk to the main food markets, temples, boutiques and other tourist spots as well as Komtar (the mall and the bus station for buses to the airport or Penang Hill).
The room had no window but never felt too dark. It was spacious, well designed and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have English TV channel.
All staff members were always kind and helpful.
Throughly enjoyed our stay at the Penang Marriott hotel. The service provided by Ivan and the team was exceptional. Everybody was attentive and nothing was too much trouble to make our stay even more special.
The location of the hotel perfect, away from the hustle of George Town. The hotel rooms good size and clean. Buffet breakfast offered a good variety of choice.
Would highly recommend this hotel to make stay in Penang extra special
The hotel is a hidden diamond, we had the premier plus room, due to availability. The room was huge and has a balcony, a fantastic bathroom and powerful shower. You get one free mini bar during your stay but obvs no alcohol. The cleanliness and brightness of the room was fantastic. The staff and manager literally could not do enough for you. The locations is great and walking distance to all the attractions in George town
We really enjoyed our stay at Treasure Hunter. The self check-in was very easy especially as we were sent very clear instructions which included a video. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The property is in an excellent location- we really enjoyed exploring George Town on foot and bus stops are nearby to explore other areas and attractions.
This was a quaint, well decorated boutique hotel in Georgetown. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay there. The room and property were gorgeous and in a great location. It is close to shops, restauraunts, and within walking distance to main attractions. The price is very reasonable compared to other heritage hotels in the area.
Wonderful hotel in the heart of George Town. It felt like a step back in time, the historical building brought back to new life. The staff was truely friendly and helpul. We especially enjoyed the complimentary daily afternoon tea including snacks of the local cuisine. Great!
The room was spacious and well equipped.
when I was booking the room, it didn’t show bunk bed. room was too small without any room to sit. I had never experienced in my life a hotel with bunk beds. stairs to room was very steep and narrow. it’s the worst in my life. I will never book at this kind of hotel anymore.
An excellent design hotel with good location in George Town close to the Old Town and the ocean. Loved the room interior, coffee machine and the infinity pool with the ocean view. Short walking distance to the Old Town and restaurants. Good breakfast.
It is an authentic Peranakan building in the heart of George Town. Elaborate Chinese Malaysian design. Period furnishings and tile, adapted for contemporary comfort. Michelin honorable mention restaurant. Great bar.
Excellent staff. Very friendly and treated us like family. Boutique hotel with timber ceilings and floors and interesting furnishings. Comfortable bed and easy walking to everything in George Town. Lovely private pool.
2022 refurbished hotel, rooms and facilities are new and very clean, filtered water on tap in the room, good breakfast, friendly staff. Location between Batu feringgi and George town. The best Ascott hotel i stayed in.
The place are clean and tidy, worker attitude very nice and friendly near the hotel have many local streets food and some bar and pub very convenient to walk and feel the George town heritage. What a cosy place.
wow what a value- right on the beach- super fun pool. traditional food court is immediately in front of hotel for copious food selections . inexpensive 15 minute ride to George Town.
