The apartment was very clean and cosy and the view was very beautiful. Even though it was a little far from the town, the bus stop was just outside so it was very easy to transport. Our host, Maria, was very kind and friendly and willing to help us with our transportation with her car. Definitely recommend!!

Located in a quiet and refreshing little hill overlooking the sea. Clean and comfy rooms. Very helpful and caring hosts. Bonus was that our dog was able to accompany us and stay with us as the hosts welcomed her.

    The wild west of Folegandros.

The wild west of Folegandros. Traditional cycladic farmhouses, donkeys helping the farmers execute their everyday tasks. Peace and many footpaths options to hike to a nearby beach withing 30-45minutes. A great surpise were time stands still.

I loved the wild remoteness, seeing the pig, goats and donkeys. It was too hot to do the long treks to Ambeli beach for eg so I took the bus to Chora then Ageli Beach. (Good bus service) There is a local shop and great bakery in Ano Meria. To see the raw beauty of Folegandros I recommend Ano Meria and it is doable.

Ano Meria is very exposed to the wind (the Cyclades Island complex gets a lot of wind in the summer) so it may be difficult to actually stay there and spend time. However it is a great base for exploring Folegandros, but would strongly suggest a car/ scooter in order to do so. Folegandros is essentially one road c.10km end to end. From Ano Meria one can go towards Ambeli and watch an amazing sunset or towards Chora in the other direction for the small village where there are a host of restaurants. For beaches it's the same. Additonally Ano Meria has a couple of great small quaint restaurants (Irene makes great local dishes). Plus 2 minimarkets super close to buy necessities for beach excursions/breakfast etc.
