This is a great hotel in a central. Location in Tilcara.
The rooms at the upper most level are newer with a better view. But the level just below that are nice as well, just not as new. I would book the top level if available.

The best place to be based when going around the Quebrada if you go in January. Lovely restaurants and shops, quiet, not so busy. Comparing with Purmamarca and Humahuaca is the place to be based. We didn't have a car and instead, we booked excursions every day. I'd recommend doing that. Going with a car might be useless for some excursions where you need a 4WD or a local who knows the tricky gravel roads very well.

Best place to base yourself north of Salta.
Best place to base yourself north of Salta. You need a car really to see the tourist sites, would recommend hiring for a midday late afternoon pick-up so you can return later in the day.
Would recommend 1 day driving there, then 2 days based in Tilcara to visit the mountains and salt flats. Then return to Salta on the final day visiting the small towns on the way back.
There are two driving routes there. Take the less windy one there when you first collect your car, as the windy route is more complicated to drive (though nothing to fear).
Tilcara has the best restaurants in the area, in particular go to the cake shop La Casa De Champa for the strudel

The house was very close to the centre, yet thanks to it's location inside the block, it felt very private.
I must say, the photos do not do justice to this accommodation - in real life it is much more nice than on the photos.
We will recommend it warmly to anyone needing some privacy and something extra.

A beautiful town with amazing vibes!
A beautiful town with amazing vibes! We really enjoyed visiting the archeological museum and Pucara de Tilcara. An amazing hike up into Gargante del Diablo. Great markets and night life. Very friendly and safe town.
This hostel was amazing! I stayed in a private room for one night with a friend, and the bed was so comfortable and clean. Linens were included with the room and the bathroom had soap/conditioner/shampoo as well. The complimentary breakfast included bread, cereal, fruit, coffee, yogurt, and more. Tilcara is a small town and this hostel is located about 1 block from shops/bars/restaurants. Definitely recommend staying here!!
Natalia is a wonderful host (and makes delicious carrot muffins;) ) full of local wisdom and suggestions.. The buildings and rooms are very sweet and tidy, the garden very neat, the night sky gorgeous and the walk to the center is max 15 min, perfect for a digestive walk. Tilcara and Natalia's place in particular is a great base to explore Salinas Grandes,Purmamarca and 14 colored mountains!
The hotel was amazing. the staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the terrace beatiful. The view from the room was breathtaking with the mountains surrouding us. The pool and garden were very relaxing. The gym was fully equipped too. The breakfast was great with loads of different options.
Charming typical house of the region well equipped (wood stove, BBQ) and with a lot of private space around.
30 min on foot or 10 min by car from Tilcara's centre.
Beautiful view on the mountains and beautiful sky at night.
Ideal to have rest...close to all sightseeings of the valley.
Highly recommended.
The room was nice and comfortable. The views from the entire hotel and room are spectacular. The 3 llamas and the beautiful flowering vegetation around the hotel complete a unique environment. Jose is very friendly and always has some useful information at hand to recommend. We had a great time.

Everyone was great.
Quiet little castita located on hills of Tilcara. The casita felt private with our own outdoor seating are. The host was very helpful for what to do in the area. The shower was hot and the beds were comfortable.
This was a charming hotel with nice public spaces ( for hotel guests) including a pool, and an inside area to relax when the restaurant wasn’t open. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the restaurant one night.
The breakfast is the only thing that is ok in that hotel (fresh orange juice, fruits). However it is supposed to start at 8am but juice and fruits, ham and cheese come only at 8h30.
it is a lovely house with big spaces
although it is located in the center of Tilcara (which it is awesome already) it has a huge private garden that makes it very special
