Wagrain is all about skiing. If you don't ski, there isn't much to do around Wagrain. Swimming pool opens in the afternoon, so does the skate ring. If you have kids, there is no much other fun things to do. Most of the restaurants open at 5 pm. If your hotel doesn't offer lunch meals, you can only help yourself with snack from the two spar groceries in the village.
The ski bus is great, it runs every 10 min. However, the streets are narrow and it may get quite tight, if you meet a bus while driving.

Wagrain was a good base for many activities in a family summer vacation:
Super close:
- Grafenberg - great views, a big playground for kids
- Jaegersee - a lake with amazing view and a restaurant (I recommend the icecream). There is a short hiking trail around the lake and you can rent boats.
- Flachau indoor waterpark - Not a must, but good for rainy days (can be very crowded)
Up to 1h drive:
- Salzburg
- Lichtensteinklamm - Beautiful but very crowded - I recommend arriving right at opening time
- Gosausee - Beautiful lake also with a hiking trail
- Grollinger waterfall
- Hallstatt - Very crowded so arrive early or don't bother.

Have been visiting this ski area since 1986 and gone through all spots involved in the skiing area. In lunch time I went to the Alms where I was every single time. And always found what I wanted. Travelling either by the ski-buses or rent a car has never been a problem. Dining took place in the towns of Wagrain, St. Johann or Flachau and good restaurants easy to find.
I would describe the apartment as you get what you pay for :-) Decent breakfast, very nice owner, 5mins from the ski lift. The hotel has a room to store your boots and ski, its few minutes from the city center but you rather take your car to get there. As a bonus we got the guest cards from the owner so we could visit thee local water park with heated outside pool (awesome perk). If you go here for skiing and look for a place to have a nice sleep and comfort for very good money, this is your choice.
Excellent Breakfast with many varieties of food. Florian (the owner) was very attentive to our needs (vegetarian although i eat fish) . The quality of the food was very good together with the very interesting breakfast room adorned with trophies from the families walking and climbing on the surrounding mountains .
Florian was on hand to attend to our every need at breakfast and spoke with all the guests which added to the welcoming feeling of this small hotel.
Our family had a great stay at Hofgut! Highlights of our stay were the friendly staff, fantastic breakfast buffet to start each day, indoor and outdoor facilities- pools, saunas, playground, trampolines, game-areas, offered us and our children both relaxation and enjoyment. Besides that the beautiful location of Wagrain Austria with great panaranas and fresh air was wonderful. Each day was a mix of enjoying day trips and the Hofgut Resort.
The room is super spacious and we loved especially the huge wardrobe. Seating area in the room is also very nice. The hotel has nice and spacious ski and ski-boot rooms. Breakfast was really rich and good. Parking is a little tricky in the village centre, but the hotel has sorted that out neatly in the surroundings, we have always been able to park comfortably and the walk from the parking is short from all options.
Pension Anni is a great choice in the most adorable villige Wagrain with traditional feeling amazing location accessible to great dining places, close to ski area and beautiful nature all around. Hosts are very friendly and nice people who always stop by to ask if you are satisfied and are happy to provide recommendations. We will definately come back. ! PenzionAnni was a great choice.
The host was very nice and helpful.
It great location for star trips and ski trips.
There are all the facilities that needed for a good trip and they have much more than a normal hotel, including box games and kitchen with microwave, dishes and silverware, espresso machine and a fridge.
The location is good for skiing. 100m from a small bar lift that brings you to Flying Mozart
The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable. It is spacious and well-equipped.
The hotel owner is very pleasant and helpful.
The ski room is the best I've seen.
The hotel had a lovely welcoming atmosphere, great food and wellness facilities. The interior was very thoughtfully designed. The location was great, right in the middle of the ski area with easy access to all four valleys.
Location, location, location. Just 5 mins walking to the skilift.
Walking distance to the centre of Wagrain, grocery stores and the swimming pool.
Bread service daily.
Enough parking space in front of the house.
Well located pension with a view to the Grafenberg mountain. Friendly, nice owner! Wagrain cable cars are very close and nice hiking path also start just right there where the pension is.
