The location in terms of scenery is fantastic although hard to reach if you don't get a driver. The pool is really nice along with the staff. The only thing which I think it must improve is the quality of food, specially the breakfast.

MAHAWELI Reach Hotel is situated overlooking the MAHAWELI river. It is a breathtakingly beautiful location. It’s one of the oldest hotels in Kandy. The architecture is stunning. The bedrooms were extremely spacious and comfortable with beautiful views from the balcony.
The staff at MAHAWELI Reach were exceptional! Attentive, polite and helpful. The Buffet spread was delicious! A wonderful mix of Western and Asian.
I want to say to those who expect food from your country. Enjoy the food served in the country that you visit instead of complaining. I have never been served Sri Lankan food when I visit another country. Especially in an All inclusive Hotel.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a memorable one.

We stayed at this hidden gem with our family of 4 during a rainy period. The hotel and garden are beautiful and clean. The view is amazing. It’s located outside of the city, which we really liked because it was peaceful.
The personnel of this hotel were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, more than enough food. We had dinner once in the restaurant and recommend to try the Sri Lanka curry.
My oldest son, my husband and I had a very relaxing afternoon getting a spa treatment very good with reasonable price. This place is definitely worth a visit.

A cultural eye-opener.
A cultural eye-opener. Lots to see and do - but most major attractions are spread far from one another. Expect to take a couple full days touring Kandy and the surrounding areas. Two of my strongest recommendations: the British Was Cemetery. The caretaker has tended the graveyard for decades and knows each detail about each soul laid to rest. Also a sight worth seeing is Peradeniya University. A remarkable campus that lives up to its reputation as one of the nicest in all of South Asia.

The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit. I didn't interested to see the famous temple and another one important thing is in commuting hours the traffic jam was remarkable and every one should calculate staying in the traffic in their schedule .

Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie.
Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie. Ella, Sigriya, Dambulla and Polonaruwa. Gateway to mountainous region of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also a historical town with famous Temple of Tooth. This town is best served with affordable eateries and several modes of transportation. Cooler weather compared to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo.
The best place to stay, when visiting Kandy. Very friendly, caring people (manager and cook), so lovely place, where you feel like at home. Comfy beds, warm watter, clean and lovely rooms. You have additional service (dinner as you wish, tasty and rich breakfast with a lot of fruits). Quiet, marvelous place with wonderfull view from the terrace or balcony with 2 hammocks, you can use them any tíme, watch the stars, mountains, moon, town... Just perfect stay, the best in Sri Lanka!
Loved my stay here! All the staff is so friendly and wanting to help. They had good tips for my stay in Kandy, but also for the rest of my stay in Sri Lanka. The hotel is very clean and since it's a new hotel, everything still looks good. I had an upgrade to a private room, but the dorm looked fine as well. Also the location is great, within 15 minutes you're at the temple of tooth which is next to the city centre. Would like to thank the amazing staff to make my stay the best!
Jaga and his lovely family are great hosts and very welcoming. You will feel right at home! The house is a bit of a climb from the town, but you get rewarded with a great view and you can even see the Buddha statue from the terrace. They serve great breakfast and dinner in case you are to lazy to go into town, and are ready for recommendations of what to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again!! Big thanks to the family for making my stay in Kandy so pleasant :)
It was our first time in Kandy and the hotel was in a good area just outside side main town. We stayed in the Royal Tent which was great value and added to the experience. The room was good size and all modern fixtures like you would expect in a hotel room.
On greeting the staff was welcoming and assisted with all our needs wheather it be in hotel or outside. If you want hiltop hotel with a differance rather than a standard hotel give this place a go.
Staff were exceptionally good and nice. We were greeted with coconut water and cold towel on arrival. Breakfast was stunning. Staff helped us arrange onwards travel by tuk tuk. They allowed left luggage. Best shower we experienced across 6 different hotels in Sri Lanka. Spotlessly clean. Rooms with views had amazing views (hotel is nestled on a big hill).
Biggest compliment we can give is that we couldn't stay for longer!
Traditional hotel in excellent location- very close walking distance to lake and temple of the tooth. Rooms and hotel slightly dated but we enjoyed using the rooftop bar and having a swimming pool to use after a day of sight-seeing. Staff very helpful and attentive and option for freshly made omelette for breakfast. Would recommend if you’re looking for a well located hotel in the centre of Kandy with a pool
For the price it's a great deal as long as you're aware of the compromises.
It's got nice rooms (including clean washrooms), working hot water, and a nice pool.
To top it off, the views are amazing especially from the roof top.
Fairly close by to Kandy city (5-10 mins) by a cab as well.
Overall, a great hotel for a short stay. But if they can fix the things mentioned below they'd be perfect
We had the best vacation in Sri Lanka in this accommodation! Safety and cleanliness are very high here. The host and his team are very friendly and accommodating. We got lots of good tips on what to see in the area and were provided with the best tuk tuk driver in town :) Breakfast and dinner were very tasty and prepared with lots of love. We would definitely come back again!
This hotel is very close to the Temple and the lake and right in Kandy.
All the double rooms were very clean and we had a nice balcony room.
The reception staff and breakfast staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
The top floor bar was excellent, air conditioned and two balconies.
Breakfast was buffet style with some traditional Sri Lankan food.
The hotel is new and everything looks like it's all renovated. Nice rooms with a spectacular view from the balcony. There is a nice terrace upstairs where breakfast is served. The staff are super nice and attentive. The location is also good and far from the crowded Kandy but it is walkable distance. I recommend staying in this hotel while you're in Kandy.
First of all the best food we had in Sri Lanka, Alexandra is really an amazing chef. Both Alexandra and Michael were incredible hosts and very helpful. They have a beautiful house very well looked after. The location is great, close enough to Kandy center but outside enough to have the quiet. Great pool, good rooms. Absolutely recommend this stay!
Everything in Veraima is fabulous. This is our best stay at Sri Lanka. The owners hospitality is outstanding, information they gave you are precious. Good breakfast, great pool, great big rooms.
They will arrange a tuk-tuk driver if you need, for very good price. Choose Veraima for your next stay in Kandy and satisfaction is guaranteed.
A great hotel - most of the early teething issues after opening appear to be ironed out now (they now have alcohol license etc) and we had a fantastic stay. The 5 min stroll down the hill to the centre of Kandy is a particular bonus given a lot of the hotels in the area are outside the town centre itself
The hotel is in a superb position overlooking the town of Kandy.. In almost all directions, the view is of hills. Most rooms have good views of this amazing environment. The food and facilities are very good, with an excellent breakfast offering Asian and Western choices
Loved the beautiful hotel with a full view of Kandy city with the mountains surrounding it. A must stay hotel if anyone wishes to come to Sri Lanka to see and bask in its natural beauty.
The staff are natural and engaging while the facilities were just amazing.
We liked that it's a whole big apartment with two bathrooms, so it's s real change from other similar priced places. The view over Kandy is magnificent and the air much cleaner than in downtown. The host was very helpful and ready to help with all our queries.
Excellent staff, beautiful hotel and located in front of the Kandy lake. Convenient location, excellent service and clean rooms well furnished with all amenities. Very good Sri Lankan breakfast as well.
