Free parking. Pleasant personel. Decent breakfast.
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and has cheaper accommodations, with easy transport links to the historic center. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano has fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the center of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche center, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called "mignon".

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

We only had a three night stay at the Hotel Delfino in Mestre
It is the perfect position for a value for money ,easy base to visit Venice from.
Unfortunately we did not have time to visit Mestre itself as our focus was always towards Venice.
Mestre is a very short journey by bus two and from the airport and stops outside the hotel which means your holiday can begin within the hour. Perfect. The supermarket was well stocked with anything you should need. With places to eat and regular buses to move around or by foot

This is the second time I have stayed in Hotel Garibaldi, it maybe a small hotel but has a huge heart! Luigi and his colleagues are so kind and helpful and show interest in how you spend your time. The No.2 bus stops right outside to take you to the centre of Venice. Hotel Garibaldi is excellent quality for a a very reasonable price, breakfast will set you up for the day. I will be back again soon!!

Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative...
Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative though you definitely miss out on the old, traditional feel of Venice (I had stayed in a hotel in Venice another time and it was wonderful there). If you eat in Mestre, it's much cheaper. We ate at 'Da Michele'. Excellent food, very good value for money. We did not have any time to explore Mestre per se, though.
The room was comfortable, modern, and seemed newly renovated. It's difficult to find hotels like this directly on the Venetian islands at an affordable price. The hotel is 3 blocks away from the Venezia Mestre train station. Easy access to Venice: on the adjacent street, take bus #2, which brings you directly into Venice (Piazzale Roma, the last stop) in 10 minutes. It was nice to have the choice of a "bar" breakfast of either croissant + coffee or buffet (both at an additional cost).
The hotel was amazing. It was clean and modern. The room was spacious and overlooked the pool. The pool was big with lots of sunbeds. The staff were very friendly. The bus stop is literally outside of the hotel and it is a 10 minute/ 3 stops journey to Venice/Venezia. You can just ask the staff at the desk for a ticket and they will provide one for you for cheap. We never ate at the hotel restaurant so can’t say how the food was but the overall experience at the hotel was amazing.
We travel with two kids , the room is not big ,
but it was comfortable, with a queen bed also two single beds.
it was very comfortable.
Also the breakfast was so great kids were happy , very good quality a.
Recommend yo try their Tiramisu was delicious.
the front desk gave us tips of the way to visit Venice , also you can just buy Tran ticket with the front desk. very convenient.
recommend this hotel if you choice to stay at Mestre.
The price is the best,
Hotel stuff was very nice and helpful,
Hotel is new and clean,
You can take bus n2 from Mestre Main station to get to the Hotel, but N2 is not going straight there you should walk 800m which was ok for us, or you can take another bus, to go next to the hotel,
There is a big Lidl supermarket very close to the Hotel, which was comfortable,
It is very easy and fast to get to Venice from here, take bus N 2
The second floor apartment was very nice and well equipped. There was much more space than we would have had in a hotel room. We received warm welcome by the hosts and instructions on the apartment as well as the surrounding areas and public transportation. It was easy to take a bus from Mestre to Venice and back (about 30 minutes one way). The bus stop and a supermarket were just about 200 meters from the apartment.
The hotel is in a great location, the bus stop for Venice is a few steps from the hotel. The center of Mestre is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Bus tickets can be purchased at the hotel reception. The hotel has private parking, but it costs €15 per night, the car key must be left at the hotel reception. Breakfast was fine. The staff is friendly and helpful.
We always stay at the Plaza when in Venice and always use the airport bus (to get there as bus station is just a 5 minute walk across the street) from the hotel., and next to the train station (and the train into central Venice) and the great small restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast on the 2nd floor was very nice as well.
This hotel is wonderful. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful. The room had eveyething we needed; fridge, ac, big balcony, comfortable beds and bathroom. Breakfast was nice and customer service is really wonderful. Less than 5 min walk to mestre central station and the tram to venice.
Nice hotel for a fair price in the centre of Mestre. Highly recommended for any traveller who wants to see Venice.
Tram T1 or bus 4L that an take you to the old town are very close, some 3 minutes walk from the entrance of the hotel.
There are also shops nearby so everything is there what one can ask for.
Really excellent hotel for its class. Right opposite the railway station in Mestre with frequent services to Venice (10 mins away) and good connections to other parts of Italy and beyond. We arrived at1230 and we were allowed to check in and go to our rooms without even asking. Breakfast good.
Very nice hotel, convenient location next to Mestre station and Venice. Clean room with comfortable bed. The only thing to improve would be to have a tea kettle in the room. It was very inconvenient to take the elevator from the 10th floor every time we needed hot water for a cup of tea.
Very good breakfast. Very well connected to Venice. It is a small city very clean and with some good restaurants if one is a bit tired of busy Venice. Nice cafés and shopping area. I definitely recommend the hotel and staying in Mestre to go into Venice.
5 mins walk from Mestre train station.
Bus station to Venice is just behind the hotel.
They even packed our breakfast on our request, as we had to leave before 7AM.
Hotel was very clean.
Lady at the reception has very good attitude and tries her best.
its location was the main reason we chose this hotel! Next to the Mestre station was close to ATVO and local buses, and of course for the trains to Venice!
Fairly modern hotel, very clean, and friendly staff.
The hotel is nearby the Mestre train station that connects you regularly with Venice Santa Lucia within a 10- mins train ride. The apartment was spacious and well-equipped. Staff was super friendly.
the hotel is in walking distance with the Venezia Mestre Station and also the bus stop line 2 that goes to Venice directly. The building is well-renovated and it is very clean and comfortable.
Wonderful apartment. Exceptional owners. Great location close to Mestre train station, hotels, restaurants, many buses. Highly recommend for a visit to Venice. Loved it.
