This place is amazing! Beautifully renovated and decorated. Surrounded by olive trees and chestnuts and a great view of the town and the castle. Every morning we had fresh bread and pastries delivered for breakfast. We also very much enjoyed the pool area. We stayed there for 3 nights and wished we would have stayed longer. It was so relaxing and peaceful.

We arrived early in the evening and asked Miguel for a recommendation for a restaurant. He led us in his car (we followed in our car) right to a restaurant, then he went in and spoke to the people there (they didn't speak a lot of English) to let them know what we were looking for. This was SO HELPFUL! We never would have found a restaurant that night. Thank you Miguel! We had a great dinner.

Good location. Comfortable bed with private bathroom. Good breakfast.
The walled Tancoso can be walked easily! The castle and the Jewish quarters are sites of interest. Trancoso has a couple of options for restaurants and bakeries - one should try the Sweet Sardines of Trancoso

the self catering apartment was like a cave or converted garage and the shower was so complex that I couldnt use it. When I did manage to turn it on the flimsy tray filled with water like a paddling pool.

It's a lovely peaceful inland north town where the locals quietly get on with their lives without obvious greed or complaint. The lifestyle is simple and caring for others. Tourist coaches discreetly come and go usually to visit the ancient castle which whilst rebuilt at the beginning of the last century still offers a great insight into its historic significance. If you visit Trancoso accept its quiet it's simplicity and respect it and it's people for the way it and they exist.
The hotel is situated in an old grand home and certainly a very comfortable and historic place to stay. Our room had a balcony which enabled the extension of our room. Our host Richard was very helpful with tourist plans and all staff friendly and really keen to assist our stay. Great breakfasts and a wonderful garden with a well kept pool which was available for us to use. The location was great being inside the castle walls. Would recommend to others. The lift was a great addition for a hotel this size!!
This is the place to stay in Trancoso - it's really worth ("vale a pena" in Portuguese). It's located in a quiet area of Trancoso, just few steps from the old town and the musea of the village. The owners are an absolutely lovely couple, attentive to details and so kind ("they lent us umbrellas in a very rainy day when they saw us going out in the morning). . The environment is very familiar, so you feel like at home. The breakfast is very tasty using local and tasty products
Superb value - 30 euros for a spacious double room with balcony.
Convenient location and covered parking.
Owner doesn't speak English but was very friendly and took pains to make sure we had what we needed. When we arrived in shorts and T-shirts she was very concerned to tell us it gets COLD at night in Trancoso in October.
There was no heating on in the room but it was perfectly warm enough - and lots of hot water in the shower.
The house was excellent. Very clean, very confortable. The rooms and toilets are excellent. The kitchen is well equipped and modern. The dining and living room is really nice and with an amazing view.
It is very close to Trancoso (which we liked) and also close (by car) to a lot of very cute villages.
The host was always very helpful.
The property was very comfortable and having stayed in many hotels accross the world I would say this could very easily be considered a 4* hotel, clean and modern, I stayed in room 7 but saw doors open to other rooms and I don't think they have all been renovated but the room I stayed in was excellent!
An eclectic, comfortable property in the dead center of Trancoso, with the entire village within a few minute’s stroll. Ricardo, the manager, kindly received me a bit late in the evening, and made sure I had everything I needed for my one-night stay.
A great place to stay in Trancoso, right in the centre of town. Everything was perfect, elegant stylish decor , spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was good and nice selection. Location of the hotel inside the old walls was perfect and easy to find. Nice terrace off our room. Good secure storage for our bikes while we stayed.
