Mysore is a gem of a city in India. The weather is usually much less extreme than other places in India. The people are friendly and there's lots to do. The palace is beautiful (especially on Sunday night when they light 10K lights for an hour), the catholic cathedral is very nice. The sacred Chamundi Hill is a must! Nandi Bull is on the other side of the hill and carved from a huge boulder. There is also lots of walking places and the Deveraja Market must not be missed for spices, flowers and lots of inexpensive interesting items including incense and jaggery. There is also lots of tailors, jewelry shopping and Mysore silk shops. The Southern Star is a great hotel there.

This listing is obviously in India.
This listing is obviously in India.
I can't understand why it's listed with Booking, com as Jugglers Rest in Picton.
It's most confusing!
When you ring the contact number it's in India and the person that answers is very hard to understand and barely speaks English.
Personally I don't think Booking.com should have the property listed at all

I arrived at mysore by train from Bangalore and didn’t get to my hotel til around 13:30. Hotellier kindly provided a map and marked on it local places of interest, thinking this would be too late to visit the palace I went to the aquarium. The best thing about it was the entrance - makes for great photos.
Walking (with the aid of good old google) I came across the palace and couldn’t resist going in. Just 100inr - same price for everyone. I didn’t have to queue for more than a few minutes for a ticket at that time of day but there were still orderly queues getting around inside. I had plenty of time before closing at 17:30 so I achieved my purpose for visiting mysore earlier than expected.
Shoes are not allowed inside the palace so I’d recommend socks as 10s of thousands of people visit every week. The sheer opulence of the palace is something I’ve not seen anywhere else. I didn’t stay for the daily palace light show as I was tired out but I understand it’s quite something.
It’s not somewhere you’d find fine dining but the hotel I stayed at had a restaurant very nearby.

GOOD PLACE TO VISIT.
GOOD PLACE TO VISIT. WE LIKED THESE PLACES SUCH AS CHAMUNDI TEMPLE, MYSORE PALACE, ZOO, VRUNDAVAN GARDEN, MIRROR MAZE AND DEVARAJA MARKET. THE WORST PLACE IS WE HAVE VISITED DOMAINE SULA WHICH WAS ON THE WAY FROM BANGALORE TO MYSORE.

Southern Star is one of the best hotels in Mysore. I stayed here in the month of September & this is my second visit. The rooms have been renovated, they are spick and span, beds have been replaced & they are super comfy.
I had booked two rooms & misplaced my gold chain in one of the rooms. I thank Mr.Raj, Praveen & all the other staff members for their cooperation. Chandana, who works in the restaurant is so courteous & helpful. One of the sweetest lady I have ever met!
One of my favourite places we’ve stay in India so far. Our room was very clean and so were communal areas. Bedding felt really fresh and clean. I was able to get all my washing done here too. Staff are friendly.
The building is beautiful and set back from a quiet road, so the whole place feels very peaceful. Just a short walk from good places to eat and a quick tuktuk ride to Mysore palace and other places worth visiting. Highly recommend this place!
This place is the perfect fusion between price and comfort. The hotel is located nearby the Mysore Palace (15 minute walk) and most of the other sights are also a short drive away. The room is comfortable and the shower is great. I have to highlight the staff, including Mahesh and the security man (which I sadly don’t remember the name), they helped me so much with the bags and tuk-tuks! I’d definitely stay here again.
the location , the room , service architect and also Kamla front desk attendant was also very polite and professional really enjoyed the stay and best thing was swimming pool on top just wow if you are going to Mysore then must stay in this hotel but the night time guard needs to being after Money money rest all good and also hotel should start making breakfast in hotel itself not from outside
nice decent hotel in the heart of the city. easy access to the city center and places around Mysore. There is ample parking space. A restaurant next door, which is great since you don't have to walk far for getting something to eat. Staff is very polite and helpful. Rooms were decent enough (bathrooms are bit small though). Over all a good hotel to stay in Mysore, would definitely recommend.
What a modern and pleasant hotel in a nice area of Mysore ! The room had the best bed I ever had in India, was very well equipped and calm. Staff is very helpful and friendly and will do its best. The hotel restaurant is also recommendable, with good Indian dishes. On the whole this hotel surpassed my expectations, therefore absolutely recommendable.
The location is at a walking distance from Mysore palace. The hotel has basic facilities with a clean room and bathroom. One veg restaurant in the building and nothing else nearby. Limited parking (had to park roadside). They have arrangements with another restaurant who delivers in the room. We just stayed the night so it was okay.
This new hotel is beautifully clean and quiet and modern with good room service - just what a solo traveller needs after a frenetic day in and around Mysore. It was my safe haven. The receptionist in the afternoons/evenings spoke great English too. As a new hotel they are still finding their feet but it’s a great place to stay.
The location was situated on the main road so it was easy to find, and all the tourist attractions were less than 20 mins in distance. So having your own vehicle will be helpful if you stay in this hotel. The staff were very informative.
The rooms were well lit and were spacious for 2 people.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel.
+ There is a decent vegetarian restaurant below the hotel where one can also buy water bottles.
+ On the other side of the road, there is a little park where one can take a break to relax outdoors.
+ The city centre and station are rather close.
+ The internet connection on the third floor was good.
Felt quite luxurious- very nice design, really nice rooms and great staff. I moved here from the Taj (MG Road), and i would say for less than half the price this hotel was better on pretty much every count (except for the concierge service which was fine but not special).
Best hotel in mysore. We travelled on 13th March on 14th it's my husband birthday So I request to decorate our room. They do amazing job very clean bathroom, also daily housekeeping is done. Amazing experience Must visited 🙂🙂.
The hostel was located in a scenic peaceful place. There is a beautiful park right in front of the hostel. The rooms and premises are very clean. The staff were really supportive and friendly. Best hostel in Mysore.
Good hotel to stay and relax for your trip to Mysore. The rooms are neat and well maintained. hot water & WIFI is excellent, There are many Restaurants nearby to dine in. Overall a excellent experience
The staff was very friendly. They catered to all of our needs. They were available on call immediately. Would stay here again if I visit Mysore again. Best thing is value for money.
