Panama City has positives-we found the Metro and bus system useful and very cheap, but with the price of Ubers you might find them more convenient. We had no issues with the Ubers we used. In terms of things to do these were our favourites:
1)the Canal-the IMAX presentation was informative and watching a ship transit was fascinating-check to make sure there is a ship going through when you want to visit-there can be hours between them
2)the Biomuseum-we thought it was great especially if you are travelling with younger kids
3)the Old City- we enjoyed it but it is a tourist place- we found it interesting that while the Old City is a ‘must see’ it is bordered by areas of the city which are very sketchy, especially at night.
4)the board walk by the sea is a nice place to spend time in the evening
And that was about it for us. We are not out at night so can’t speak to the nightlife. Other than that we found Panama City, loud, and difficult to navigate on foot. For us, 2 days would probably have done it.

I just stayed in Panama City for 2 overnight layovers. I was a single female traveler who always felt safe. Panama City is sophisticated and cosmopolitan. Everyone I interacted with courteous and friendly. I hope to return soon to see more of this beautiful country with a big heart.

This is a modern city with all amenities.
This is a modern city with all amenities. Views along the waterfront are spectacular. We found a great place for coffee and breakfast in the old city and really enjoyed the rooftop bars and restaurants. It's very easy and inexpensive to get around with Uber or taxi. We found the rates with Uber to be very reasonable. Loved the seafood market whch is a collection of smaller eateries, and Casa Casco rooftop which offers panoramic city views. Do venture outside the city to see what else this diverse and vibrant country has to offer!

Panamá City is a wonderful mix of old and new, rich and poor. Wherever we went, especially in the Old Town we felt safe and welcomed. The churches, Spanish architecture, food, and wonderful celebrations should not be missed. The Miraflores Locks, including the IMAX movie is a must see. I would have never chosen Panama City as a place to visit if it had not been for a cruise we chose out of Colon, but, am so glad that we had this opportunity.

We stayed a week, which might have been a day too long.
We stayed a week, which might have been a day too long. Old Town was nice, but if going there try to avoid times when cruise ships arrive. Metropolitan Park and Ancon hill were both great. We visited Miraflores locks - took an Uber instead of a guided tour. It’s well worth doing, but before going be sure to check the times that shipping will pass that day. We had to wait around about 4 hours because we failed to do that! Loved the Cinta Contera great walks and views. Check out Mi Pueblito at the base of Ancon Hill- well worth the $3 fee which includes an English- speaking guide. Favorite restaurant - Lucca in El Congrejo. Upscale surroundings but not upscale prices, with excellent pizza. The rest of the menu looked great too. Murphys bar for happy hour drinks but I wouldn’t eat there again.
Perfect location in the historic part of Panama City. Great cafes, shops, museums, galleries, water and CBD views. This hotel has the best communication offering hotel transfers or tours. The staff are brilliant going over and above to help me even before I arrive. There is a restaurant in the hotel which has the best menu I’ve ever seen & with delicious food from breakfast to dinner. There is double glazing on the windows so everything is really quiet. I wish to highly recommend Las Clementinas. Thanks a million for having me stay!
Las Clemintinas is a great place to stay in Panama City. Located in the Casco Viejo, you can walk the old neighborhoods right out of the door. There is a great, vibey restaurant and courtyard as part of the hotel to hang out and grab a drink in. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Check-in with the staff was easy and they were knowledgeable of the area with recommendations. Overall, I would recommend staying here and would stay here again myself.
A pleasant studio apartment ideally located in the Casco Viejo district in Panama City. One large central room with a small but well-equipped kitchen and a loft above the kitchen with a second bed. The apartment is close to several of better local restaurants for the times you want to dine out. Finally the price is reasonable for the area. You get twice the space of a hotel room at half the cost.
The room had a bathtub which was the key reason I booked. That worked well although I'm a little large for the tub. The all-night cafe was another big plus. Front desk was bilingual but the English wasn't as good as some other Panama City hotels. They have a large outdoor pool with a great view of downtown (I didn't swim in it). There is a pharmacy and venues to eat/drink within walking distance.
Let me start by saying that, the staff here get 10/10 for their customer service. I also recommend a Bayside view room(you will not regret it). Breakfast was exceptional. This hotel is conveniently located within close proximity to malls, plazas & restaurants some of which are walking distance. Uber is also your best friend while staying in Panama City. Will I recommend? Most definitely!
Nice moderne and comfortable hotel. The rooms are massive and the views on Panama city are pretty amazing. It is clean and you get everything you need for a pleasant stay. Would definitely go back. They were very nice and prepared us a 'to-go' breakfast as we had to leave very early.
Clean functional room. Good restaurant / bar in hotel with friendly staff . An adequate breakfast buffet. Excellent location for business in Panama city or a quick exit to the Panamericana and Howard/ panama pacifica. Perfect for a business trip. Closed parking space.
This property is just in the heart of panama city. Their rooms are very big with all the necessary amenities. The hotel has an outdoor pool at the last floor. There are a lot restaurants near by. The front desk staff were amazing especially Christy she was very helpful.
Rooms are big, the staff at reception very friendly, unlike the staff at breakfast. I have stayed in other hotels in Panama City, and I do believe this is more expensive than it should, but it does the job, it's clean, in a good position, rooms are big and bathroom ok.
The best the hotel offers is the breakfast included, quite varied and tasty. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. If you go to an event at the Panama Convention Center or Parlamento Latino is perfectly well located, not so for other places in Panama City
Its my «go to» hotel when i come in Panama city, which is every 2 months for the last 2 years. I have never been disappointed. Staff is very nice and responsive, pool area is nice, close to everything and the price is on point with what they deliver.
We were flying out of the smaller Panama City airport and the hotel is 5 min from there. So the location was perfect for us. Staff was very friendly. Rooms had a slight musty smell. Breakfast was ok- nothing great. But overall the hotel was great.
The details in the hotel are magnificent. Small details in your room, since upon your arrival till when you are leaving. And coming from Panama City, which I've never experienced so much service oriented mentality - Bristol was magic.
This Hotel is ideally located in the central and safe neighbourhood El Cangrejo, only 500m away from a Metro station. Room was spacious, clean and fully equipped. The view from the rooftop pool over Panama City was amazing.
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location for exploring the old town. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for them. I would love to stay here again if we are ever in Panama City.
This is a funky little hotel right in the middle of the action in the old part of Panama City. The rooms are large, comfortable and very arty. There is a great restaurant and a rooftop bar.
The hotel is really beautiful. The beach beneath the hotel is great for swimming and snorkeling, also connect with other beaches. So you can explore more areas from here.
