The area had a good mix of shops, bars etc and prices were reasonable. You can choose to stay in central higher end hotels or cheaper options on the periphery but tuktuks only cost about 700rps from one end to the other. Perhaps 1500rps in the evening. We preferred staying outside the main area because it was much quieter but so easy to walk into town along the beautiful beach.

Hikkaduwa is big village and it has two beaches: near the village center (beach called Hikkaduwa) and further south stretching to Dodanduwa (this beach is called Narigama). Narigama is much better beach for sun bathing and swimming. It has wider and less steep slope. Plenty of cafes to eat and rent/get a sun bed on different budget.MMaksymPoland

It’s in a lovely peaceful location, an easy 10 minute walk to the beach/ small supermarket and main road or easy to arrange a tuk tuk further into Hikkaduwa town. There are sun beds and hanging chairs. I was spending half of my stay over there in the hanging chairs because it soothes me. The staff was really helpful. Especially the owner Mr.Greshan if I'm correct as I remember his name. He always takes care. Also Mr. Mahinda, the Manager of the hotel is so kind and helpful. I will definitely visit again on my next vacation. I really enjoyed the stay.

We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at our hotel and the food was delicious every time. The staff was friendly and the manager helped us with every question. We had a late flight at 8 pm and he let us checkout late so we didnt have to wander at the airport but could instead spend a few more hours at the pool.
