We had the upper penthouse with a small terrace overlooking the whole lake, just wonderful! The food is excellent, breakfast outside or inside just perfect and the staff couldn’t be more helpful! Thank you Giovanni and team for this wonderful stay!

The tax heaven on Switzerland. Quiet nice place to live.
The tax heaven on Switzerland. Quiet nice place to live. For tourism? Give me a break, it's country side. Outdoor activities, walking and enjoying big lake (Zugersee).
But not really a tourist place. If you don't have business to do there, try in example Luzern and for city holidays Zurich.

Zug is very nice and amazing city, located at the beautiful lake Zugersee.
I recommend following restaurants:
Chez Ladur, Juanitos, Puccini, Zeno's and Sihlmatt in Menzingen.
Transport in Zug is easy, but you can reach interesting place in a short time just walking.

My wife and I both enjoyed the lakefront as well as the restaurants that are to be found in that area. The sunset on a clear summer night as one wound look across the water to the alps is among the most beautiful in the world. Located between Zurich and Luzern, Zug provides easy access to both.

This is my birthplace, a tax haven and therefore full of foreign companies who have their postboxes and offices here. You hear more English than Swiss German, but it still has a very Swiss feel about it. Lovely location on the lake, with a small old town, some excellent shops, 2 or 3 nice cafes (one where Audrey Hepburn used to eat Zuger Kirschtorte), and fantastic views onto the Rigi and beyond - the Alps. Lots of opportunities to take walks through fields and forests, go for swims in the lake, excellent public transport. Easy and quick to reach Lucerne, Zurich, Schwyz etc. You can also take the bus up to Unter- and Oberägeri, with a smaller, but very attractive lake, and lovely views over Lake Zug on the way.

Zug is a very cosmopolitan town between Zurich and Luzern, basically a business town but with a lovely old town and beautiful lake, If you have the time, visit Rigi mountain, with spectacular views or take a ferry round the lake and have lunch on the boat.
In winter, take in an ice hokey game or ice skate on the rink outside.

We loved Zug, such a beautiful town with the lake and old city and mountains. Easy to get around, just very expensive for Australians. We would have loved more time there had we been able to afford it.
Excellent room very well designed with quality workmanship. Overlooking the lake. Comfortable and clean. Quality fixtures and fittings throughout the hotel all in good condition. Superb location with the hotel facing the lake and the square in the heart of the historic town of Zug. Could walk easily from the front door. Good but select menu at dinner. On a par with good 4/ 5 star major hotels. Flexible use of the public carpark (entry / exit without penalty) and fee paid through the hotel. Generous quality coffee / drinks in room.
We had a beatiful and pleasant stay at hotel Lowen. The room had a romantic view to the lake, it was big enough, the beds vere comfy (although it wasn't a proper double bed, just two twin beds adjanced to each other). The staff was super helpful and friendly. Breakfest was delicious, and we got freshly cooked eggs (made to our liking) and cooffee (whatever we asked for).
Very nice cosy hotel for the money. It’s rated 2 stars but you get amazing breakfast with scrambled eggs etc. room is clean and quiet, right opposite train station.
There are no ready waiting bottles of water in the room- but as a reminder you can drink sink water in Switzerland, it’s as clean as Evian.
Staff is friendly, easy checkout. Big like.
The room was clean, big and beautiful, much more than what I expected for the price I paid. The breakfast was really tasty. The WiFi was good. The hotel itself was also clean and beautiful and well located. And everyone from the staff was very kind. I wonder why the hotel is 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.
I was hesitant with a shared facility but, in the end it was nice as we basically had the whole flat to ourselves most of the days. The hosts were very friendly as was the other guest we overlapped with for a couple of days. Downtown Zug is a 5-minute walk down the hill.
The singular best part of the Zugertor was the staff. All were extremely friendly and professional. They even assisted both my wife and I with our poor German language skills. In addition the room was quiet, the shower was excellent, and the air conditioner was great.
This is a basic self-service hotel with a no-nonsense approach. The bed was comfortable and the surrounding area is quiet. There are facilities to cook for yourself (which can be good on a longer stay). Restaurants and the main area of Zug city are a short walk away.
Homely feeling.
Cooperative Host.
Cleanliness.
Perfect stay for Family with Kids.
Good comfort/facility
Close to Station Steinhausen (however you need to change train from Steinhausen to Zug & Zug to luzern)
Great location and great view direct on the lake
Rooms are new and very nicely decorated
Staff is very helpful (call them before arrival so they guide you to the hotel, its hard to drive there with GPS)
Super clean, tidy, spacious, well equipped, all details were taken care of, owner supervision and follow-up was amazing
Location was nice 25min drive to Zurich, nearby town Zug is very causey
Great hotel within walking distance to Baar station. Facilities are good and the breakfast was decent too. Would highly recommend and will be staying there again in the future.
Very spacious, comfortable, good equipped apartment with excellent view on lake and mountain from big terrace. Very close to train station and center of Zug.
