Surrounded by rolling hills and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!
Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic center. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.
The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodations deals on Booking.com!

This was a great location for visiting Siena and the local region. Although on a bus route the buses aren’t very frequent so it is certainly easier with a car. Parking available at the property. Good restaurant next door - but sadly not at all good for vegetarians!
The monastery on top of the hill is a must - we had a drink up there in the bar - but the food in the restaurant looked great too and was reasonably priced.
A great base for visiting Tuscany.

Beautiful city with interesting sights, but they have to do a lot more if they want to accommodate this number of tourists (especially to create or control the taxi service which is absolutely unprofessional and unreliable).

This was our most liked stop in our almost three week trip to Italy. The property and staff was amazing and they were able to recommend restaurants, arrange taxi service and especially the wine tour to the Mazzie Winery in Fonterutoli. The property was top notch, clean, quiet and would highly recommend if you are staying in Siena.

We enjoyed our visit to Siena in spite of the rain on our first day. We visited the Duomo complex and were impressed with the splendour of the Cathedral, the Bapistry and the Crypt but The Piccolomini library was the most impressive part of the complex for us. We enjoyed just walking around the streets of Siena and taking in the centuries old feel of the place.
The staff were amazing and so helpful. They were particularly helpful in helping us get to the building with parking and our luggage. They were also great English speakers which really helped us feel more comfortable. The location is great and walking distance to main sites in Siena. The property is quite large and has a nice outdoor area which we could sit and relax in. The breakfast was great too with variety! The hotel room felt clean, and very large and spacious which really helped us spread out with our luggage.
We had a wonderful experience. This is a beautiful and restful place to stay. The bathroom and beds are immaculate and comfortable. Very modern. There is a high level of hospitality here. Very warm reception. I would definitely rebook if I am lucky enough to return to Siena. Excellent communication on security codes and check-in procedures. We stayed in five different hotels during our trip to Italy but our stay in Siena was the best because this hotel is so well managed.
Location, cleanness, spacious, very well decorated and comfortable room, flawless services. Gianni and Lucca are amazing professionals and persons, taking very good care of every single detail. I strongly recommend Casatorre dei Leoni to every one who wants to stay in at a high end hotel in Siena. Also an amazing restaurant in the ground floor called Gallo Nero that belongs to the same people, where we had an amazing experience.
Owner is very nice and helpful...and speaks native english.
I loved to room. In an excellent location. Very artsy and super comfortable.
I really liked the long skinny bathroom and extra long shower. Reminds me of my 3 story Victorian house back home.
Siena is hands down the most beautiful and my favorite city in Italy. If I was going to buy a place....it would be in Siena for sure
Perfect location in the centre of Sienna, great stuff, they have kindly upgraded our room. Good (Italian 😅) breakfast in a very nice cafe was included in price. The room was stunning, like in a museum, the celling was amazing. The room was clean and has everything you need! Unlike other places we visited in Italy, this hotel has good spacious bathroom. Highly recommended!
Wonderful place to stay! The owner met us as we pulled into the property and greeted us warmly. He gave us a fantastic overview of Siena and its history and provided us with tips on how to see the sights. The historic villa is comfortable and quiet, and the breakfast is superb. This is our favorite place to stay in Italy! Thank you, Giacomo, for treating us so well!
This property has excellent location. Close to parking lot if you drive your own car and the hotel gives you discount for parking fee. Rooms are clean . kitchen and bathroom are in really good condition. Mario is a nice and considerable host who answers questions in a second. If you only spend one night in Siena, Dimora Storica is the best choice.
The property was amazing! Beautiful farmhouse about 10 minutes away from Siena. Stefano was very welcoming and helpful. He always offered me coffee (and breakfast) in the morning and gave me some tips on the way out the door. The couple also has two super cute Australian Shepherds. Comfortable room, free Wi-Fi, all the amenities of a hotel.
The location is great and so is the view of the Duomo. Parking was made very easy by the hotel staff. It did cost 20 euro to have the car parked remotely but I feel it was worth it. Breakfast was probably the best I had in my two week trip to Italy. The place was clean and I would definitely stay here again.
Lovely hotel close to Siena centre yet detached enough to enjoy the peace and quite. Beautiful views from the breakfast terrace and the room and bathroom were quite spacious and very comfortable! Would love to return. Breakfast was also very good and varied! Easy private parking near the hotel entrance
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean and new. The staff is very nice and willing to help. Good gym that’s open most of the day, which is great with all the carbs in Italy 😄 We had a very good time.
also the location was great for us because it has easy access to the rural area.
Everything was perfect. We had a lot of space in our apartment. There were all necessary things in the kitchen. Air condition worked well. We arrived by car and didn’t have problems with parking. Next to the hotel locate the bus stop and you can easy to get to the center of Siena.
This is a beautiful property with history and great freindly staff. The restaurant was really nice
The hotel and rooms were exceptionally clean . The grounds are just beautiful you can stay there all day and relax or drive into Siena, just 15-20 minutes
Stunning hotel within walking distance of the best Siena has to offer. Such a unique stay, with much bigger rooms than anticipated. The gorgeous atrium can’t be missed! The experience of staying in the old abbey was amazing!
Perfect location in the centre of Siena. The staff were so helpful and friendly. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with a lovely homely feel. Breakfast was good value for money and beautifully presented. Loved it
the view from the terrace is amazing!!! Siena at your feet. get a glass of wine at sunset and relax on the terrace- our top Italy experience. Eugenia was very helpful and friendly!
